I'm about to take the plunge and start vaping, as is my wife. I've read a lot on here about the do's and don'ts of newbies. I have a bit of money to spend, and, even better, I have a juice I already know I will like, and a friend gave me a 30 ml bottle of it!

So, I'm better off than most people just jumping in. That being said, I don't know what to get. I have roughly 100 bucks to drop (meaning 50 per person). Would the ego vv from apollo (with a 6.0 ml Dual coil cart tank) be a decent starting point? I know it isn't a provari, but I simply can't afford to drop that kind of money for one, let alone two, at the moment. I'm burning through 1 blu disposable per day and a half at the moment.

Thanks for the anticipated help!

sounds good, but since you are trying to save on $ keep in mind carto's are designed to be disposable. you will have to spend some loochie to replace them. pretty much everything requires some sort of replacement, be it protank and evod heads, to vivi nova. just depends on how much you wanna spend.

what you have scoped out looks decent enough to me though. i wish i had started with an ego twist or vv ;)

Thanks, and I already figured out a way around the cart cost. Found a site that sells dual coil carts for like 2 bucks per. Doesn't seem to shabby. Apollo's replacement carts cost nearly three times as much, with the same threading, number of coils, and punches. Seems way more cost-effective than the 20 bucks every three days for disposables. By the by, does anyone know the exact flavor of blu's magnificent menthol. I know its Johnson Creek, but they have like 3-5 menthol flavors....

honestly since there are 2 of you
I might buy 1 kit for the charger
then get enough seperate batterys for you each to have 2
and a tank or clearomizer for each of you

later you can add a second charger

the reason I say this is with one battery each what do you do when your battery is dead? Wait for it to charge?

Welcome Yerdream !
Good for you- doing the research, quiting with your honey...and joining ECF !
You are going to be a success story !

The twists look good...how many are you getting...you need a backup, ya know.
The tank is good...kinda big, but good.
Can't speak about the BLU menthol...don't do menthol myself...
but I do know that menthol Vapers have a much better satisfaction of their juices that folks looking for...
a 'bacco' flavor that mimics their favorite ciggy. (Does not exist...and the 'bacco' flavors are nasty to me).

So, Drink Plenty Of Water while Vaping !
Vaping drys you out...and you want to flush those old toxins out of your system.
It will help to make your transition much easier.

All the Best to You Both !!!
(We are rooting for you(s) !

Get yourself and your wife an eGo Twist and a couple eVods with a couple of replacement heads. You should have enough left over for some juice.

I've taken a look at those, as well. How is the eGo Twist better than the eGo VV 1200mAh? Everything I've researched seems to show that the Ego VV 1200mAh has more precise settings, as well as a bigger battery.

The eGo class batteries, of which the Apollo, Joytech, and Vision are included are an excellent choice of batteries for a beginner. But as pointed out, if you plan on this to be a complete replacement of cigarettes each person will require at minimum two batteries each, and one charger each.

If you're really serious about this, to save a little money "in the long run" I'd go with a variable voltage model like the Vision Spinner or Joytech Twist. You may not use the variable voltage feature in the very beginning, but most vapors do advance up to batteries with this feature quite early on, and you might as well spend a few more bucks for them now and skip the single voltage batteries to avoid the need to advance up the vaping ladder later on.

I've put together a series of articles for beginning vapors in my blog. This one is of a recommended eGo setup with a video tutorial at the end:

If you are going to be using delivery devices like cartotanks or clearomizers (including Vivi Nova tanks), be aware that some flavors are not friendly with the clear plastic used in these: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3733-6-something-safe-cinnamon-citrus-flavors.html

As far as I can tell, the twist/spinner goes to 4.8v, where as the ego vv can go up to 6v. The spinner/twist can be adjusted on accident easily, where as you can lock in your voltage with the ego vv. I am not sure about the charge unit on the ego vv. It says it is USB, but doesn't state if you can use it like a pass through device. That is, vape it while it is charging.

IMO both are winners. You can't go wrong with either. As prev stated though, one battery for each of you may not cut it. Though you may think 1100 - 1300 mah will last all day, in my experience it doesn't. Esp if you chain vape, like many do, myself included. If the ego vv does provide pass through, then this may help mitigate that problem.

::edit:: had 3.8, corrected to 4.8

Would I still need two batteries per person if I get the one I'm looking at ego variable voltage is a passthrough, and we both have jobs where we are at computers all day?
