We pay GST just like the other provinces, but Alberta doesn’t have any PST. HST is a combined GS and PS Tax. One of the perks of being such an oil rich province is that we have no PST, nor do we have any health care premiums anymore.

The interesting thing is that if Alberta separated from Canada, there’d be no more equalization payments and Alberta would become a very rich nation indeed. The Dubai of the Western world.
