so a few weeks ago, I tried drilling out the holes in my 1.8 ohm i06..wanted to loosen the draw a bit. I used a manual drill like model builders use. Well, the holes got a little bigger and the draw loosened nicely, but now I have a 4.1 ohm i06 running at 6V and working just great...what did I do? I'm guessing I went a little too far with the drill, although I tried to be careful, and messed with the guts somehow...

My guess is that you created a half short somewhere. It happens on my rba's whenever two wraps slightly move/touch each other. Strange how it works, but as long as it works :p

I've had an ACS dripping atty at 2.5 ohms, drilled the air holes about 2x bigger, and the resistance stayed the same. Not sure if the io6 is an exception or anything, but washvap's theory makes some sense too.
