According to B&M, RDA won't work on a VV/VW mod?

First post here, but I've been lurking for a bit, and I have a quick question. I was at my local B&M the other day to grab another PT3 when I saw he had a few RDAs in. They were cheap ($16) so I figured I'd grab one to try. I have bought the 3 mods I have from there (SVD, Vamo V5, and a Cool Fire) and he asked if I had a mech. I said no, and he proceeded to tell me the rda won't work on a VV mod and that I needed to buy a Chi You clone for $40.

Does this sound right that the rda won't work on a VV mod? I know the VV mods will only run a coil down to a certain resistance so maybe that was his thought. Also, $40 for a clone sounds a bit steep, even for a B&M?

Thanks for any input!

So long as it's over your mod's minimum resistance(ie, 1.0ohm), it'll be fine. Your mod doesn't have a sensor to tell it not to run an RDA.

That's kind of what I thought, but I wasn't sure. From my understanding, basically, all these mods are is a simple power source in a fancy package.

I will also add: If you go the RBA/RDA route, make sure you have some sort of ohmmeter, whether it be a handheld, a setting on your device or a stand alone vaporizer head reader... You want to know exactly what load you are trying to put across your battery. If this makes sense, then you are good to go. If this doesn't make sense, please, please do some research before building your atty. It could mean keeping your face intact.

He's just trying to upsell a clone. He's either misinformed, or lying to you.

Things like that make a difference to me. I've been researching my next mod, and I was at a local store earlier this week, and saw they had the SiD at $60, which is close enough to online prices that I was willing to pull the trigger and support them by buying it and batteries and a charger. I asked him if I could play with it, and asked how to get to the ohm checking on the display. He stated "They don't do that. If you want to check ohms you have to buy this other $90 mod. (Some MAX clone I'd never heard of)" I replied that they do in fact check ohms, I've read enough reviews of the device that I know that. I also asked for a carto, I'd show him. He refused, and said "I know this stuff, that does not check ohms."

No sale. Sorry. I can't support that kind of attitude.

I use my Optimus S and Youde IGO-T on my APVs every day. Yes, it's true, you cannot fire a coil below 1.2Ω, but that doesn't mean you can't get a great vape with a micro coil & cotton setup at low resistance.

In fact, my current build is exactly 1.2Ω :D

The dude was probably thinking of sub ohm. Lot of people seem to go directly to sub ohm on a mech and forget that alternatives do exist.

Thanks for the input guys! I think I'll check out some other vape shops and probably pick up an RDA elsewhere. I wouldn't mind a lower price mech to start with, but I just don't like to support the Chinese cloning. Hell, my first RBA will be here today and I jumped in with a genuine Kayfun Lite.

Don't need to get a clone there are many manual mods Sigelei / UDT and many other big companies make mods not all clones.

Good choice Kayfun Lite :)

Proof that you don't even need a mod to drip. This is an Igo-L (built high enough for the Smoktech Winder). Probably the weirdest (and cheapest) setup I've put together. I don't use this combination of devices very often, but it does work and vape rather nicely.

bit like mine i have used my octopus rda with drilled air hole dual coil 1.2ohm ( thats two 2.4 ohm coils)on a vision spinner
really nice vape

I just did a search and found a shop about 30 min away that gets great reviews and seems to sell a lot of brands that aren't from the far East. Going to check it out this evening. Also, My KFL just arrived in the mail. Now if the Semovar would hurry up and get here!

You either have a complete idiot working (or owning) the B&M you speak of or that guy thinks your a complete idiot. The fact that you came here and asked the question in such a way that you already knew the answer means its time to find a new B&M. Let the first one fade away into a failed business while they push their lack of knowledge on the truly unknowing customers.

Now as for clones, to each there own but remember that without clones the manufacturers of the originals would never be able to keep up with the demand and since demand drives prices a real GG or Chi You would be $1,000. But there are non clone options at clone prices, I have some very expensive mechanical mods but my "authentic" Smoktech Magneto and Galileo do just as good and cost less than many clones.
