I think I spelled that right, Looks right! Any way, is there somewhere either on this forum or a book or something that a newbie like myself could have to know what people are talking about. I mean there is lots and lots or acronyms that folks use in this forum and else where that I am desperately trying to understand and I am clueless. evo versus mods clearo something and more things then my old wrinkled up .... can even come close to understanding.

Please help I like this vaping thing and it keeps me going. 45 year habit is hard to break but I am getting there slowly but surely or is it Shirley I can't remember.:glare:

Atty = Atomizer. It is most akin to a toaster coil. It's a very thin coil that heats up whenever you press the battery's button.

Toppers = tanks.

Tanks = things you put your liquid into that contains the atomizer.

The best analogy I can give for how atomizers work is to think of a lightbulb. We all know how to swap out a lightbulb. And it is essentially the same concept. The coil gets hot, hot, hot, hot, then it finally pops. Swapping one out is just like swapping out a lightbulb.

"Toppers", "Tanks", "Atomizers", and "juice" are all encompassed in one device, the "tank". It combines all those elements.

Ohms: a resistance rating in electronics. I am not a electronicist so I can't describe it further. A general rule of thumb: if you know the resistance of your atomizer, just add TWO to that number. For example, if you ask and they tell you your atomizer is at 2.0-2.2 ohms, add two to that number. If you have a Twist or a Spinner battery, you'll probablty find the best performance around 4 volts. 2+2=4.

VV = Variable voltage. This is like being able to turn up the volume on your stereo. Only in e-cig style. You can control the amount of power your battery puts out. What this does, essentially, is add more heat to your atomizer coil. This vaporizes more liquid more quickly, giving you more of a hit. Many people consider this an upgrade. Too much heat, though, and your juice can taste burnt and you can "pop" your atomizer coil more quickly. This is why VV is advantageous. You can fine-tune your "sweet spot".

VW = Variable wattage. Similar to VV, only if you find your sweet spot in wattage, you can slap any "topper" on there with any resistance (measured in Ohms) and it will automatically adjust the voltage to your preferred settings.

EGO: Any of the batteries that are shaped like a magic marker that has threads on top and a button.

Battery: the long piece with the pushy button that provides power. It is rechargeable.

Juice, E-Liquid, Oils: This is the actual liquid that contains flavorings and nicotine.

Ask more questions, receive more answers! You're at the right place, my man.

Hi Mike and welcome to ECF. The replies you've gotten should be helpful. I remember being quite confused with the lingo and the acronyms when I started researching vaping before I got going with it. What really helped, along with the links and info that has already been provided in this thread, was the encouragement to be patient with the learning curve for vaping. And I was encouraged to hang out here, read lots of posts, watch some youtube videos on vaping and that pretty quickly things would start to make sense. And they were right...what began as a feeling like I was listening to a foreign language started making sense. I've only been vaping for about 4 1/2 months and am becoming more comfortable with the language and acronyms. I am sure you will find it the same.

The cool thing is that the folks here are very supportive and friendly. We all started as noobies and many remember how confusing it can be. Which is why, I believe, so many folks here hang in the new members forum and offer help and support to noobs (and I still consider myself pretty new).

So hang in and enjoy your vape journey. Questions and some confusion is part of the path for many of us.

Keep the vape and namaste.
