I bought my first e-cig as a xmas gift for my daughters, got them both a smoke 51 trio for a ridiculous amount but after taking that first puff on theirs I knew it was for me. I went online hoping for a better price, bought a really cheap no name model that wouldn't work, while searching for help on that I found this forum and started on what I think is going to be an obsession for awhile buying pv's and diying juice.

I bought a 510 which I love, still. Then read about the ego and got a Riva (came in yesterday) and already today I'm wanting more

I was looking at a diy thread on making a mod, no I don't want to do that I'd be so lost, lol, but I love the self feeding box the guy made and want one! I still will continue to use both my 510 and riva so I'd like something with compatible atty's.

I don't want to get into the same spot as before buying a model that well, basically sucks and I know the people here give the very best advice, so I'm counting on you all! :)

What models do you recommend I research?
I don't know if it matters but I use 24mg 70pg/30vg juice, the most important things to me beginning with the most are vapor production, throat hit, and 510 compatible atty or adapter that fits well. I'd also prefer a rather small one.

And I'm thinking one made out of wood as well as one made out of metal. IKES I can't stop!

Appreciate any type of opinions!

This is the one I saw made and I love the style, just not the plastic (or the diy part! lol)

The ProVari is real nice to dial in voltages for the atomizer and liquid you are using. It also has the ability to check your battery voltage, atty resistance, and some other bells and whistles. They have the directions on their website in PDF format available @ the ProVari page so you could review. It is rather simple once you have read and tried it once or twice. It is a rather large, but not huge PV, but that is in respective to others I own. When I switch atties or cartomizers to it, I check the resistance and dial in the voltage to I get the vape I want. What it doesn't do is self juicing... Also, you have to consider, do you want a tube style PV or a box type? I do not like boxes... but again that is a personal thing. I love my CE2 cartomizers, especially in a Tank mod. I also have tried the new eGo-T atomizer/tanks, which will work on your Riva. One of my T atties works pretty good, the other one sucks. A lot of people really like them, and some hate them, all based on personal experiences.

I would suggest determining what your price range is and what you really want. Variable voltage using 510 stuff, or a juice feeder of some sort... Then start looking. Right now, if you want VV then ProVari or Darwin (coming soon) are stroong contenders... You want a juice feed for that? Then a tank mod for CE2 cartomizers or even Super-T's VapeMate. If you want mechanical (no electronics or switches to break), then look at Puresmoker's offerings or even Super-T's. If you want a box mod, there are several to choose from, but Reo's seem to be the "thing" right now. Super-T will be coming out with one also. Most box mods are juice feeders. If you just want something simple and elogant to go with your current PV that doesn't require much work, then the eGo-T atomizer and cartridges from cignot or Liberty Flights is a possibility... and even shortly, there will be the Giantomizer, which will be a factory "tank" for the CE2 R4 cartomizers... There are a lot of possibilities to choose from, so I probably made this worse for you.

BTW, I use my Rivas/eGos with the tank atty or clearomizers all the time when I leave the house or office. And I like them both. Also, I am sure there other great mods out there, I just can't get them all in one thread, and some of them I either hate, or don't have experience with.

The Reo Grand is a popular model these days and can be found here REO's Mods | Home of the REO PV. There's some wooden mods here Welcome to R&R Manufacturing - Handcrafted Battery Box Mods. As to the Provari, it helps to know a bit about the electrical requirements of different atomizers and how they work, but not really necessary. If the voltage is too high for the atty you're using, you'll burn the juice. If it's too low you won't get very good vapor production. You simply adjust the voltage up or down until it tastes good.

Yes. lol I want both, a provari a wood box type and a metal box type. I'll take a look at the ones you suggested. I never heard of the Darwin.

I've already order the ego-t atty & carts, clearomizers and next week i'm hoping to get the MAP tank!

Money isn't really an issue as I found making my own 24mg juice is costing me .26 cents a day at 3ml pd. I smoked 1-2 packs a day so I'm still saving even buying all this stuff! It's great =)

Reo mini is an awesome box mod. All mechanical and no wires. Means the switch touches the batt to complete the circuit, it isn't a switch so to speak, more like a metal piece to complete the circuit... and no wires, meaning there is nothing to break. No switch to wear out, no wires to break off of a solder joint etc. With that, it may require a little maintenance like cleaning the post that contackts the battery. Otherwise, trouble free. The size is also perfect. IF I was to buy a box right now, that would probably be it.

Hello there, I went through the same progression myself, I think a lot of people have. I settled on 2 bottom fed box mods, Phidias (which is expertly crafted, beautiful and vapes like a champ) and also a Reo Grand which is another fantastic and well made mod that is built like a tank!!

The Reo is really my everyday mod because a 6ml bottle and AW 18560 battery last me 3 days of care free vapor experience (YMMV) The Phidias is my home mod because honestly I dont want to take it out of my house and I show it off to visitors every chance I get. Do your research and I'm sure you will find the right one for you. Have fun and congrats on kicking the analogs!!

it means no wires at all in the mod....when you open it up...just a bottle and a battery....here are some pics....

if you wanna try a bottom feeder you could try old goats ..(ron) ..they are inexpensive and a great way to try them out..they have the wires in them...but a great bottom feeder to start..
i have 3 reos...they are awesome! new ones are coming soon..(wood).....
the provari is awesome too...nice pv to have around to check ohms ,etc. and to play around with different voltages...and it is awesome...:)

I am in the same boat of sorts. I have about 8 or 9 different pv's to choose from. It drives my wife nuts, lol. I have been creating a number of those though so it has been a pretty cheap hobby. Majority of those are box mods I have been messing around with. Standard 510 box, recessed 801 atty box, pump fed box, glow in the dark clear box and latest last night was a variable voltage box.

no wires, meaning there is nothing to break.

That's not quite true. Anything mechanical will break from use over time. A well made mechanical switch will likely last longer than an electrical switch.

+1 for the Reo though. I just got my Grand yesterday and it is the best PV of the eight I've owned. I plan to get a mini down the road for the times when I want to carry less bulk.

The Darwin is goofy looking though. It looks like you're sucking on a ruler.

It's not about the looks, it's about the performance. Those who I have talked to who have done beta testing can't say enough good about it. If it works as flawlessly and consistently as being reported, who cares what it looks like. I vote for substance over style anyday. I sure as heck don't want my PV to look anything like an analog!!

Check out the Prodigy V3.1 from Puresmoker.com. I've had mine since September and have absolutely no desire to look for anything else, as I don't see how there could possibly be a better device out there anywhere. You can run it at 3.7v or 6v, but I'm so hooked on 6v vaping that I could never go back to 3.7. You can order it with the 510 adpater and run it with 510 attys, SR 306 attys or SR Boge cartomizers for the very best that vaping has to offer, in my opinion. If you've tried everything else, it's worth a look...
