Does anyone know of an epoxy, glue or other type of adhesive that will bond to silicone tubing? Ive tried a few so far without good results. If not, any suggestions for an alternate flexible material for feeder type mods?
I’m currently using a mechanical connection by drilling a hole the same size or slightly smaller than the OD of the tubing then inserting a short section of aluminum tube into the silicone tube which locks it in place. New mod will require the inserted section to be about 2” up the silicone tube which is why I’m looking for an alternative. Sometime I get so far outside of the box that I cannot find it any more.
What you have with that alunimum tube sounds like a compression ring, which is pretty much a ring with tapered edges, and could be worked up 2" pretty easily. On the outside you could add an o-ring with a smaller OD that keeps the ring from sliding back. OR, insert the ring and build up a collar of epoxy putty around the tubing and possibly attached to the box, if that is what you are using. OR insert a 2 sided nipple into the box.
I'll stick with the compression type solution for this project. This should be fairly easy to do. I will also keep the double sided nipple in mind for future use. I'll have to check witht he hobby store to see if they carry those. I suspect they should be common.
silicone aquarium adhesive is as flexible as the line and should adhere to it well. also it has to be pure and not release any harmful chemicals or it would kill the fish in the tank. (they also make a food safe silicone for kitchen use, but I have had better results with the aquarium stuff)
