I prefer the cartomizer in a tank. Perhaps, it's because it was where I went next from using a bridged atomizer with a foam filled cartridge. Back then, clearomizers were cheap, leaky, prone to cracks and unreliable. But times have changed.
These days, clearomizers are well built and easy to use. You can swap out the wick and coil for a new one. The drawbacks could be the wicks won't feed the coil as fast, creating dry hits. Size of tank use to be a factor, but they seem to get larger all the time
Cartomizers, especially in tanks, demand a higher learning curve in regards to filling both the carto and tank. Depending on the viscosity of your
juice, you need to decide if one or two holes are needed.
I just find the draw and saturation of vape in a carto-tank to be more fulfilling, with less chance for the dreaded dry hit.
