Something is defiantly off. In order to get a .5ohm resistance steam-engine is calculating 8/9 wraps at that ID. I would check you leads and make sure they have not snapped while tightening down the screws, or maybe you didn't get a screw tight enough.

While you are in there you might want to change out the wick also. just to make sure it is not burnt.

I have fiddled with that too as well last night. I used "CloudBox" last night it told me to wrap 7 coils and I wrapped 7 coils of Kanthal 24 gauge and it gave me 1 ohm. So I tried 5 wraps and it gave me .5 exactly. Now with the Kanger RBA there are 3 part to the RBA (including the sleeve and screw top there are 5 pieces) (I am not including them.). (The base thread or air way, the middle section, and then a small piece that holds one side of the screws.) I have noticed the bottom of the RBA (the one with the airway) has the possibility of coming loose to cause those burny hits or resistance bouncing. The other thing I would look at is that the starting wattage with the Kanger at .5 ohm's is 15W. VG% (80-100% 15-40W); (50-70% 15-50W); (20-40% 15-60W). So try at 15W and then move up. Resistance should not bounce. There is something loose and it could be on the base rather than the screws.

Is the vapor good at around 20-22 watts? I find the sweet spot on my subox mini setup around 22 watts (.5Ω build, 26g wire).
If it's vaping nicely at 22 watts then there's no point in forcing 30+ watts.
It's a single coil rta, not a double, triple, or quad rda.

I think that often people hear of others vaping at 50+ watts and so feel they're doing something wrong if they're vaping at just 20.
If a build that works nicely at 20 watts is pushed to 35 then it's going to burn.

24g kanthal is pretty thick to be using in a STm. Different size wire at the same resistance will yield different experiences, most people use either 26g or 28g. I use 28g at 1.2Ω and vape it at 20.5w, that doesn't make enormous clouds, but that isn't what I am after.

26g at 5 wraps should put you right around .6Ω. Also, spaced versus contact will make a pretty big difference as well. A contact will vape noticeably warmer than a spaced. If you really want to be at .5Ω and vape at a slightly higher wattage you can get some nichrome80, that is what Kanger uses in their factory coils. It has a little less resistance than kanthal, so you can get to .5Ω with 5 wraps.

am usin organic japenese cotton. i do need to invest in some more wire. atm only have the 24 g
You should get 28g and 26g and see which you like better. Both can be good in the STm, it really comes down to how you want to use the tank. If you want it to be a cloud maker (as much as the STm can do that), then 26g would probably be better since you will be using lower ohms and higher watts. If you want it to be a flavor chaser and/or M2L tank, then 28g will be better at higher ohms and lower watts.

as much as i would like to cloud chase my budget just really cant take that, so do believe ill be better off goin for flavor. u say a 28g would be better? how many wraps and watts would u suggest? btw not up w all the vape lingo so may i ask what STm and M2L are?
