I always watch the classies. For what you were offering I didn't think your price was out of line. If you figure $60 to $70 for the Cyclone you were giving away the Reo.

I think the biggest obstacles were that the Grands seem to be currently not as popular as the LPs and not having the upgraded contacts. I also agree had you put separate prices and then a package price it may have been more attractive. These things also sell in cycles. When I'm going to sell something I try to watch and put things up when there aren't other similar things for sale. Just my :2c:
That's sort of the way I'm seeing it. Thanks. :)

Here's my thought process on it. .A lot has changed in the world of Reos over that last three years. Three updates to the Reo. So even for someone like me who could make it an LP and put in the gold contact rebuild kit myself I'd still have to send it to Rob for the new 510. I have plenty of RBAs and the Cyclone would sit in a draw as a backup.

So bottom line after I'd toss the batteries, discount the Cyclone and add the cost of a spa trip I'd be close to the cost of new and would still have to hope the Delrin screw was not abused.

Thank you, and a question:

I find myself using cartos too just for ease of use. Not that I mind RDAs and rebuilding but cartos are super easy. Anyway, what do the updated contacts do?...are those the sub-ohm contacts?

More power baby. The upgrade makes it hit harder, a little warmer. With out the upgrade it's a weak vape to me. I

f you are using cartos you need to throw one on that reo! I used cartotanks for a year. And am done with them.

And you don't have to prep a carto in the reo, that's a big bonus for me, just squonk and dry hit till you hear a slight gurgle and vape. From there, squonk and dry hit till you feel a slight resisitance in the draw,

I prefer the shorty cartos, but I had so many punched cartos that sometimes I just throw a drip shield on one of those and go,

And if you like cartos you might like avid's 510 atties. I like the aero. And they sell both cartos and atties. If you havmt tried one, just do it.

I know how to build and have a toolbox full of building supplies and tools, I just don't like to. Im ok with that.

Just wanted to pop in and add my perspective on REO's offered for sale.

As others have said the new contacts are a very important add to REO's. If you are trying to sell without them take into consideration the cost of a rebuild kit or a trip to reosmods for a retrofit. So, you might want to subtract that total from the asking price.

A large percentage of users want a LP. If yours is not then the cost of having that done might have a bearing on the asking price.

If offering wood REO's you should consider if they have the shorter catch cup and can run a large number of RBA's.

Color and finish are very important to some people. I have seen many people bypass a good sale price because they don't want that color.

The addition of extra REO parts, batteries, and accessories can be a nice add but I, for one don't usually give them much attention. If they raise the price too much and the seller will not consider removing them from the sell I will usually move on. If I think I can sell the extras and get some money back I might consider buying.

I hope anyone considering purchasing a used REO recognizes all these points and that they factor it into the requested price. Also if they want the option to sell and get close to their purchase price in the future.

I have a lot of older REO's. The fact that the newer REO's have new contacts, might be LP, and now there are new REO's with the new 510's, has made the price I paid for most of my used REO's a little higher than what I could expect to get if selling.

Oh, and...I want to make it clear here that at this point and time I am not considering thinning my collection! LOL!

Yep, I use 306 attys as well as cartos. Probably don't need updated contacts.

no shipping to Canada. :( I check out every reo for sale in the classifieds

we are willing paying a lil bit more if you'd only ship to us. with USPS its easy. Just no batteries or juice allowed to cross the border.

(there are exceptions to the juice/batt rule, but its the mods we(me) are really after)!

I saw Reos posted AFTER mine, in rougher condition, that sold quickly while mine sat...Thanks in advance for your honest assessment.

I bought that Reo posted after yours, so I feel I should give you some input. It is my third Reo, and perhaps my twentieth ECF classies purchase. I always worry that I'll attract some bad karma for snagging a killer deal on the classies, but I didn't imagine how overpaying would affect other people.

Maybe I overpaid, maybe I didn't. But I want you to know that it was not a rational buying decision. I don't know why your Reo didn't sell quickly, but I don't want you to agonize over that in light of a rougher Reo that did sell. The last thing I want is to spread my agony to others. I was in a very bad place personally, and thought buying a new mod would make me feel better. In hindsight, that doesn't make any sense. Don't let my dumb decisions ruin continue to ruin your mood - I'm not worth it.

Did I make a bad purchase? My shipment arrived today, and really.... the joy of unboxing an Reo can dissolve any buyers remorse. It turns out that it had the subohm kit, I'm not sure that was mentioned in the sale ad. It looks like a factory LP job, the deck has the same tumbled finish. The tumbled finish matches my variable voltage grand :) It came with two RM4's, which are worth alot less than your Cyclone. I actually really want a Cyclone, so I'm not sure I why I didn't buy your mod. I don't even like the LP look.

But I needed a 22mm atty to go on top of my new Laik (another make-me-feel-better purchase), so I figured I'd go with the bundle that includes 2 22mm attys. It turns out that these Atomic (clones?) are 19mm not 22mm anyway. Really... the next time I feel bad about life I should go hang out at the Chowderhead thread.

Sorry I didn't buy your mod. And you would never have sold me gear in this condition. The door has a gouge that can not be buffed out. One RM4 was mounted on the mod, with a coil built, cotton soaked in juice. A little juice left in the bottle. That is not your style, and you place value in selling gear that has been immaculately cleaned. I'd like to think most classies buyers would lean your way, but I am personally delighted to have someone elses stuff.

My first Reo was purchased from Sterno on the classies, and came smelling of vanilla. I think about how much love the VVG has enjoyed in its lifetime, whenever I hit it. I don't have any friends who vape, so used goods and this forum are my only access to a vaping community. Maybe I'm making up for something missing in my life, but I adore well loved used goods. My second VVG was acquired from ebay, and came in like new condition from someone who squonked once and decided "it was not for him". It doesn't feel the same vaping on a mod without provenance.

I'm going to go grab the new Reo and vape someone elses juice on someone elses coil and wick, and pretend I'm not alone.

You'll get as many opinions as folks who post to this thread... and that's normal. Mine is different that many others though... different in that I don't consider your price too high for what you were offering. I paid far more than that for a couple of my first used Reos bought that offered less... and I did not feel I got a bad deal on either later. While I need another bf atty like another hole in my head, I do like the 2013 Cyclones (have 2 that are great on Woodvil's) so that adds a lot of value to your offer to me (they commonly sell for $60 plus used). Add the extra door, button cover & bottles anyway, a great color and the non LP w/no SO contacts or new adjustable 510 upgrade should not be as much of an issue for someone who cares less about those features, or someone looking for a deal to try out their first Reo Grand with everything needed for one price (except batt charger). IMO-YYMV

As for my lack of interest in your package now that I see what it was... I already have 2 silver vein Reos, 2 Cyclones, 1 and by tomorrow 2 TRA doors (both attached to Reo Grands), a lifetime supply of bottles, 40 batts.... and with so many Reos already my plan is that future metal, wood or resin buys will be LP's.
