Wow, 2 hours is short. The problem is that with unknown batteries you can't find out what the actual specs are and sometimes suppliers put false numbers on them. The usb port charging should not mnake any difference as long as you're letting the battery charge all the way.

How many watts are you vaping at?

The Steam Engine battery Drain calculator says you should be getting 13 minutes of total runtime from 2000 mAh batteries at that wattage. That's 159, five second drags. Considering there are only 120 miunutes in 2 hours, I don't think you're taking that many drags :)

IMO, assuming the mod is good the issue is likely the batteries. My preference is Samsung 25R, 20 amp, 2500 (real) mAh batteries from Illumination Supply for $6 each, but they are out of stock right now. LG HE2 are in stock at $7.50 and are also 20A and 2500 mAh.

The calculator says this will take your runtime to 199, five second drags.

If you would like to check out more battery suppliers that are known to not sell counterfeits, these are recommended;

Illumination Supply
RTD Vapor
Lighthound
Orbtronic
Battery Junction

The battery market is glutted with terrible lies and counterfeits right now. Some companies are lying about capacity and drain limits and other places are just shrink wrapping old laptop batteries as genuine high end mod batteries.

If your battery does not act as expected, get rid of it. If you are familiar with lithium battery safety then I might be wasting your time with this but these things burn very very hot and they can explode in your face. A critical battery failure is a catastrophic release of energy for the size of the parts involved and it is very dangerous.

If you live in a place you can go to a brick and mortar store to get a good battery that should do it. If you do not I suggest this:

Batteries Archives - Sun-Vapers.com

sun vapors is a reputable vendor I've done lots of business with them. In a regulated mod with 2000 mAh you should do far better than two hours. I would stop using that thing right now if I were in your position.

Hello I have a Hana modz DNA30 topped with an aspire atlantis. I noticed the battery will last a max of 2 hours, its a 18650 2000mah 3.7v battery that's a brand by my B&M. Is it maybe because its not a name brand? Or because I'm charging it through the USB port? Advice please.

I started out using Sony vtc5's, which are great batteries, bit there are so many counterfeit Sony's out now I don't feel safe buying them. Now I use MXJO's and recently tried a couple Boost's both types are high drain and 2500 mah. Both work well for me in both my regulated mods and mechs

The only "new" batteries I trust (and I have alot lol) now are the following:

light blue Samsung 25r
red LG HE2
green LG HE4
and you can still find some remnants of the VTC line but you MUST trust the source you are buying from but VTC3's are much easier to find than any others right now

BUT...trusting your source IS important for ANY of these and if anything seems shady or your gut leaves you questioning anything...it might not be what you hope it is

Thanks! Definitely going to go to my B&M tomorrow and get a good battery that I know is safe I should of got one when I bought the mod there but thought the battery I got with it was good enough.

I think that's a really good idea, you will be happy with a good battery and you will be safer. Enjoy your Vape!

I've got the 35A LG's and they've been working great so far. I have only used AW, Efest and LG so far, but I definitely stick to the big names you hear about around here! I get all my batteries at my local vapor store that only sells authentics, but it can be a lot harder to know what you're getting off the internet.

Huh??? LG has a 35a continuous battery???

Apparently it is called the HE2 and yes it's 35 amp. To the op though 35 amp is really not needed for a regulated device. Its not bad per se but I've heard reports that the input current for some of these devices does not really "like" high amperage.

(EDIT) This battery is not a 35 amp continuous draw I am incorrect. It is 20 amp.

That is the pulse rating (which according to everyone for the most part here is taboo) the continuous rating is ONLY 20a so it's not really a 35a battery

Sir or ma'am whichever may apply. You are correct. I will edit the post to reflect this. Battery safety is no joke and I genuinely should have looked deeper into this. It was not surprising to me due to the near amp limit of available devices and a quick search provided many hits that reflected this limit. I was wrong though and yes pulse rating should never be mistaken for continuous draw.
