Does anybody know a better brand battery I can use in my new KBOX? I'm currently using the imren brand and I was told my mod can ONLY use this batteries specifications which would be a 2500MAH, 3.7V, its an 18650 and 40A. The problem is it takes way too long to charge. I've had it charging for around 8 hours and I got anxious to use my new mod so I put it in and the battery life was only at the second light. It has 7 lights to indicate the battery level and I used it at about 30W and it lasted me 5 minutes. So for an 8 hour charge, I'm getting 5 minutes for the wattage I'm using. I was told it works very well even at 40W. I don't know the brand of my charger. If it makes a difference, I have an Atlantis aspire on it which was highly recommended for this device. Any help i could get would be much appreciated.

Just wanted to let you know that there is no 40a batteries out there.
Also it sounds like the battery doesn't hold it's charge.

sony vtc4/5.
I personally love sonys all mine are still good as new even 1 year later. And they're highly regarded when it comes to safety and a real amp rating.

The most recommended ones are samsung 25r, lg he2 and lg he4 in the 20A range. If you aren't going into super sub ohming, for 40w i don't think you can go wrong with either of these.
For higher power and low res the most recommended are sony vtc4 and vtc5, mostly the vtc4 since most of the 5s sold at the moment are not authentic.

I'm no expert at all but it sounds like either your batteries are bad or your charger is bad. I have a variety of different batteries, Sony, Efest, Mnke, and AW and none of them take that long to charge. I use either my Pila or Efest Lucv4 chargers and maybe 5 hrs top to charge any of my 2500 mAh batteries. If I use the Efest charger with the 2.0amp charge setting, my Efest 26650 4200mAh charge fully in less time than that. It just doesn't sound right to me. Just my :2c:.

I agree with what everyone is telling you about any 20amp or above battery working well for the kbox. A good battery is essential for any mod.

They're not 35A though, they're 20A. Because they're rebranded LGs. :)

True......

I have never heard of the brand from the OP. All mentioned thereafter are solid choices.

I am testing the "subohm" battery brand now, taking notes in a general way on how different batteries work with my sig.

The mod can use any 18650 battery rated 20 amps continuous minimum (which is what the Imren is actually rated at). The mAh (miliamp hours) is battery capacity, which only affects how long it will run at X watts on a charge.

You`ve had some great responses about the battery. I also use Samsung 25R and LG HE2 in 40 watts devices. I have some Sony 30 amp batteries I use at higher watts. Your Imren should handle the job just fine also as long as there is nothing wrong with the battery. I have not heard about any of them being bad, but a lot depends on the supplier you buy from and if they sell counterfeit batteries or not.

As LJFinFLA said, the issue with slow charging could also be the charger. What make and model charger do you have and where did you buy it. Also make sure you put the battery in the charger the right way around. There should be a light on the charger that generally turns red after a few seconds when it`s in correctly and green when the charge is finished.

You can't go wrong with the Samsung 25r or LG HE2 - I've had a handful of each in rotation this year and nothing but good things to say about them (slightly prefer the 25r, but it may be the soothing blue color). Have some HG2s on the way as well.

Even though Sony VTC4s are legendary batteries I would never take a chance buying them at present - too many counterfeits. Even if you got a legit one they haven't been produced in a long time, so it would still be NOS (new old stock). Nothing wrong with that, but it's too much risk IMO.

I wish they would start back up w/ 18650s but according to their reps Sony is out of the game for now.

I have seen the Sony VTC5's arond again from some reputable sellers. They are coming back in dribs and drabs. The place that I use to buy my batteries now are from Liion Wholesale. They claim that they test and verify that all the batteries that they sell are authentic. Their prices are very good as well.

They have some of the best prices I've seen from a reputable dealer, period. The fact that their shipping time is so low for where I live is just icing on the cake.

I will second the HE2 batteries. I use them a lot in my sigelei 150w when I am running at lower wattages(under 80w). If I plan on going much over that, I swap them out for some VTC4s that I know can handle anything that box throws at them.

The kbox maxes out at 10amps, since it only fires down to .4

If it is putting out 40w, it doesn't matter what the coil's resistance is for a regulated mod. 40 watts is 40 watts. If it is drawing it from a battery putting out 4 volts, it is drawing 10 amps. If it is drawing it from a battery putting out 3.6 volts, it is drawing 11.1 amps. If the battery is nearly drained and only putting out 3.3 volts, it is drawing 12.1 amps. If you are running a 10 amp battery and start pulling 12 amps from it, you could be in for a bad time.

I tend to be very fond of the samsung 25r, the sony vtc4 (vtc5's are nice, but harder to find), lg he4 - all have been excellent in my limited experience... and as suggested in one reply, Illumn is a great supplier - great prices on authentic batteries - well worth checking out

currently have a samsung 25r in my kanger subox and it is rocking the fog...
