So I've been using a sigelei 150w with my Mutation X and El Cabron and I like to build around .1-.2 and I love doing different advanced builds you can see what I do on my Instagram at Jar S. Head (@jarhead045) • Instagram photos and videos

Just to get an idea of how I use my mods and to help advise me on what is a good option for a nice powerful mech mod, preferably a tube mod. Currently I have my eyes on the dotmod petri mod, looks extremely slick and nice and simple yet functional. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I can caution you that 0.1 ohm isn't safe with a single battery mod. 0.2 is doable with a 30A CDR battery like a Sony vtc4 in newish condition.

A dual battery box would be a better choice.

Yeah that's true, what about a 26650 tube mod or a stacked 18650 tube mod(I guess stacked would be in series thus no different than one as far as continuous discharge goes?)

Most 26650s are only 20A CDR. They just last longer.

A stacked 18650 would be like a light saber :). If I need both hands to vape it, no thanks :D
Haha ah ok, yeah I guess it just seems like I see these tube mods seem so much longer than an 18650 battery so I figure they must have 2 but not realizing that it would be much longer. I think I'm just gonna stay with VW mods, the only reason I was thinking about going mech was the size seemed a lot more functional but same power but I wasn't realizing that also I wouldn't be able to go as low resistance as I'd like.

I just don't understand because why do they make a lot of the VW mods in series instead of parallel yet I can run a .15 build at 100w on my sigelei 100w+ which is in series? Where are the parallel VW MODS?!?

I'm not up on all the mods, but some of them might be in parallel. Things can definitely be different when a chip is involved.

There are good reasons to have a mech. Durability, easy to repair, no chip to go out. There are a ton of parallel mech boxes to choose from. The Cherry Bomber is really popular right now, though as a woman, its not for me, lol!

People used to stack 18350s in mechs, but its generally frowned upon now for safety reasons. I've never seen a tube that can stack 18650s to be honest.

Just making a note here, no Sony battery has a realized 30A continuous rating. The VTC3 and VTC4 tap out around 18 and 14 amps continuous, respectively.

[EDIT] Whoops, I guess you did specify CDR and not c-rating, but the point remains and I'll second the initial comment about going under 0.2.

Also, to the OP, you can get mechanical box mods in series and parallel, but if you're not satisfied with such low coils, you will indeed be better off sticking to variable devices.

The trouble with replaceable parallel batts in VV/VW mods is if the user happens to insert the batteries the wrong way, you get instant disaster, and with thousands of people each changing batteries a hundred times a year, it's disasters wating to happen. (the issue could be fixed with diodes separating the batts).

That said, the vapour flask is one of the few vw mods I've seen that uses parallel batts.

When you put batteries in series, you double the voltage. In parallel, you double the amperage. A parallel mod would be a better match for bigger builds. The regulated mods are almost like mini transformers. They change what comes out of the battery with resistors and the chip controls it to prevent overcurrent.
Yeah that's how I understood it. That's why I'm trying to find VW mod in parallel. But the vapor flask just isn't powerful enough, I need at least 100 watts.

Only if you assume people aren't smart enough to put batteries in their mod correctly.

I have four parallel mechanical box mods.
Never had an issue, but then I'm a functioning adult who understands how my gear works.

What I meant to say was from the manufacturer's point of view, making vv/vw mods with short circuit protection, they don't want to make a box where if the user puts the the batteries the wrong way, a disaster happens and the manufacturer gets sued.

It could still be done though once they isolate the batteries with 1-way diodes so the batts can discharge only, but not recharge.
