Advice on starter VV

Ok so I am brand new to vaping, 2 weeks ago I bought a starter kit from v2cigs.com and they have cut my cig smoking to practically 0. But the flavors are subpar and the batteries are 380mah and 4.2 volt, which doesnt make for very long usage. I am looking into picking up a couple eGo twist batteries at the beginning of the month next month along with some eliquid, and some smoktech mega dual coil cartomizers "the 3.8ml ones"

I think this is a good start to vaping, good batteries, good carts, and some good eliquid in there too. Also looking into a Phiniac tank and Boge lr 510 for them from electronicstix.com.

Also at myfreedomsmokes.com they have a plunger kit for cleaning your cartomizers, and they have an ego adaptor, I have yet to see anybody do any type of review on it. Im wondering if its worth buying or not.

And Hi vapers, looking forward to learning and sharing what I will learn in the future.

you CANT go wrong with the ego twists, i highly reccomend them for getting into the VV sence. as far as ur phiniac thank w/ the boges - that what i just ordered to start using. people turned me on to them - i think u will love them. ur on the right track. if ur looking for good juice - try Rawrvapor.com - they get GREAT reviews, happy vaping.

yup-go for the ego twist. i have two of them i got from altsmoke.com. i get most of my juice from backwoodsbrew.net, and both have excellent customer service from my experience. i've seen the plunger thing...i'm not sure about it. i think you can make your own with a turkey baster and some tubing lol. i've been using the vivi nova mini tank, and i love it. also texasselectvapor.com makes some fantastic tanks with pre-punched cartos that work well with the ego twist. you may want to get a couple of ego short cone adapters. they fill in the space between the battery and the tank on your unit. they're a couple of bucks, and they make the whole unit look "complete".

It seems since I found out about "real vaping" and not those 2 piece things that I have opened pandoras box on a whole community . I like that battery man, its nice, I was going to get one 650mah and one 1000mah or some kind of mod for home use, and use the 650 for when I am out and about.

I have been looking at myfreedomsmokes.com alot, I like the fact that you can order their juice in larger quantities to keep your costs down. 15$ for 30ml as opposed to 45$ for 120ml. They have alot of reviews on their juices and such, and I may end up ordering some of their juice.

Alot of these mods I have been looking at are HUGE, I dont think I would ever need a 2000mah battery mod or anything like that. Just need one for home with a big long battery life for my tank. And one smaller 650mah to travel with. I really do like that puff counter on that though, thanks for linking me to it.

that's why i picked the ego twist. i wanted something portable that didn't look like a flashlight in my pocket. so i bought 2 ego twists (650mah) size. I went through a bunch of starlight cartos, ce3's, t2's, and finally think i have settled on the tank style that i get from texas select, as well as the vivi nova mini styles. of course, after vaping for a few months, i am kind of drooling over the zenesis mods and the provari types out there...you know, for when i'm at home. lol.

glad you're checking out texas select. brett is a good guy. he's also got some damn good juice, too. he'll answer any of your questions and is more than happy to help. very nice dude. even went so far as to call me and make sure i made the right choice.

that's one thing about this whole vaping thing-everybody seems so genuine and nice, and they're all happy to help and advise us newbies. i have been on ecf for a little while, and i have seen very little-if any at all-snarky remarks and bs fighting that you see in a lot of today's forums. people can be so damn mean on the web, can't they? but not here, and not in this community. the vendors as well-everybody i've dealt with so far has been 5 star.

Yeah from what I have seen this community looks to actually help each other rather than be rude and hateful to each other, dont get me wrong sometimes poking fun can be funny, but there is a limit to that. Im thinking I may have to get a phiniac tank though, because im a big fan of banana flavors, and i read somewhere it and the cinnamon can crack the plasticy or w/e tanks. OOH PROVARI, it looks so awesome, and the zenesis mods are beautiful and best thing about them is they have some that are solid pieces, no tank slipping. But that stuff is all really expensive.

i will say, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, i got some atomic fireball juice from texas select, and it was AMAZING!!! just like the candy...and with nicotine, too! lol
it did not crack anything-i doubt that will happen with those texas tough tanks he's selling! i will say that you will more than likely not want to use the tank you use for the fireball, or any other cinnamon type juice, for any other juice. it is a strong flavor, and it doesn't go away too easily. i have a red colored one that is dedicated to fireball!

Another vote for the Twist. It is a very economical way to test out VV and see if it is what you want. I currently rotate my two Twists in charging/use cycles and I love them.

I am working up to buying a ProVari but I have to save up the cash and convince my wife that the cost is justified. Not as hard as it sounds as she is fully supportive of my vaping hobby and of me stopping the stinkies. That much cash on a single PV just seems a bit much to her, as a non-vaper and non-smoker. She will come around though.

AWESOME, I may have to try the fireball out, I have 2 packages of those in my kitchen right now, and some sitting in my jacket pocket too. Im looking for a drip tip right now, there are so many, and the differant sizes really are wierd. I know I will most likely end up with a phiniac tank to start off with for my home, and that uses the 510, so a regular 510 drip tip is what I need right?

Also, whats the differance in acrylic, glass, or steel/titanium. The ones they sell at phiniac are all kind of wierd shapes, Im looking for a drip tip that is close to just straight like a cig. Since I am new to vaping I want to keep it as close as possible to regular cigs cause thats what feels right in my mouth. Any suggestions on that?

Thanks for the advice on the twist everybody. I want to start with a VV so I can bump up the voltage if its not hitting the spot. Since I hopefully smoked my last analog cig today. Im looking forward getting all my equipment and juices, and possibly in the future maybe even some DIY for a fun hobby. Im trying to get my friend into vaping as well. I did the math for him and here is what it looks like.

For just myself smoking pipe tobacco "not taxed as much" with tubes and making them myself cost me around 30 dollars a month for 1 pound and tubes. I did the math with the juice and cartomizers and such and found out if I DIY I could spend 40 dollars a month and pay for carts for both of us, juices too, he would just have to buy himself a battery. And that is consuming about 120ml in a months time, which I think is quite alot...is it?

At any rate, he is stuck on regular cigarettes, I think he has some kind of death wish. I went to the store today and got a pack of marlboros because these v2 cigs have NO FLAVOR even the menthol kind. And smoked one while I was at the store, rode my bike back after that and my chest started hurting. Not good, I know it was from smoking that fking tobacco too. And I ran into him and told him about how my chest hurt, and he said it was from the ecig...which is just ridiculous...so I think he just wants to catch cancer.

I also recently found the eJuice Me Up calculator, and im loving it, kind of scared to try anything very creative with it, ill probably just buy juices until I feel I know more about the risks and such involved in DIY. It just sucks that most sites you can only buy in 30ml quantities, i read somewhere that 3ml give or take is around a pack of cigarettes, can anyone confirm this? But it would cost me 60 dollars a month just in juices to start cutting back my nicotine intake that way, which is double what I pay for analogs because of how I do it.

I pretty much did the same thing. Got the V2 small set, a couple of extra batteries and the USB powercig too. I wasn't as unhappy with it as you, but the carts tend to leave a plastic flavor as you finish the liquid up . . . not so great. I really like the Red flavor they have though.

After about a week with the V2s, not wanting to waste my investment in the V2 batteries and charger, I bought some CE3 cartridges that fit the Volt from smokelessimage ecig, and also fit the V2 batts. Though a bit of a task to refill, they work really well, with no cart flavor, so nice! My investment in the V2s batteries was saved, and I still have some portable ecigs that I like.

Like you, I knew I would be needing something better, the day after my V2s arrived. So I started reading and watching. I also thought a VV PV was a good idea, that way you have lots of flexibility to find what you like. Being new to the whole vaping thing, it's good to have options, find what you like.

GrimmGreen does a good review of the Ego Twist on youtube, he calls it a "game changer" and highly recommends it. He says he runs it between 4 and 4.8 volts. On my own LavaTube I run it from 4 to about 4.6, so anything else seems unnecessary thus far for me. To low, the vape is weak, to high, throat hurts.

I dial mine in based on the flavor I have and the delivery system I'm using. A tank cartomizer or the Vivi Nova 2.5. The nice think about the Ego is the small form factor, ease of use and price. So I'm sure that would have worked really well for me as well. I'm really glad I got a variable volt system though because it's just so nice to make the vape the way I like it. When it's dialed in, taste great, good buzz, BETTER than smoking by far.

I ended up getting the LavaTube from VolcanoEcigs because the kit and accessories were so easy to match up, and they look like good quality on the website, and, once I got the LavaTube and LavaTank, I found out they really are good quality.

Definitely variable voltage is the way to go and the Ego Twist looks like a great device. Personally, I wish I had started with something like the Ego Twist before the V2s, because then I'd have the larger LavaTube for home and the smaller Ego Twist for travel.

another decent entry level VV mod is the VV gripper. I've seen them listed for ~$45, but they take 2250mAh 18650 rechargeable batteries. I'm not disciplined about remembering what resistance "what" I've bought so I like being able to check ohms (tip: easy rule of thumb is to start with resistance + 2.0v and then adjust +/- 0.1v to taste: 2.2ohm, start at 4.2v, etc)

If your interested in variable voltage mods, check out volcano ecigs, they will be releasing there lavatube 2.0, very different from there original lavatube, I think volcano ecigs started this whole lavatube craz way back when.

I have been eyeballing the detonator box mod on mreliquid, it looks like a very well made vv. Fairly inexpensive, he makes every one customized when you order them. Pretty awesome vv, its small, would fit in a front button up flannel pocket "what I need" and seems like a very good investment. Ill probably still pick up the twists, but may pick up the detonator to use some other stuff on.

The ratio of packs of smokes to e-liquid depends on the nicotine content of the juice. A regular pack of smokes has about 30-40mg nic in the tobacco. At 36mg nic concentration 1ml of juice has the equivalent nicotine level as a regular pack of smokes. at 24mg it would 1.5-2ml and so and so forth down the line with 18mg 2.5-3ml, 12mg 3-4 ml and 6mg 5-6ml. For a heavy smoker just making the shift from analogues; using a higher concentration like 24mg or 36mg would be better. I was a heavy smoker and went up to 36mg after using some 24mg and the 36mg gave a really strong throat hit that was just a bit too much to take. I've also tried 18mg which wasn't enough I was using juice way too fast for it to save money in the long run, and found myself settling back into the 24mg very nicely
