After receiving my RS this afternoon, and finding it to be DOA, I've read through a lot of posts from others who are having the same issue.

30 seconds is all it would take for MV to pop in a battery and test fire the RS units before they're sent out. This would save the end user a lot of grief, save mad vapes money on shipping and customer service, and would spare MV from gaining a reputation of shipping out DOA gear.

I'm a big MV fan. The only items I don't order from them are things they don't carry or don't have in stock. They're always my first choice and that won't change.

But I think the recent increase of ECF member posts lamenting poor RS QC is telling.

I shouldnt compare a PV to a car, but I will anyway. What's the point in shipping a customer a neat, shiny, new car if it won't start?

I'm a patient guy but I don't have patience when it comes to stuff like this. Do it right the first time and save everyone the headache of RMA.

I feel your pain. We actually test 3 times with 3 batteries(3.7, 5, 7.4 volts) and 3 different atties/cartos at two different checkpoints before shipping mods so half the time we're just as puzzled as you are when you get a RS or any device for that matter that doesn't work.. But sorry for the trouble and we'll get the problem resolved asap..

Wow....that's impressive...alot of time to do that kind of checking. I will say mine worked perfect out of package. Now I am waiting for an add in chip for vv
And now mine is custom....got a little nic when it dropped 6 feet of a shelf....and of course still works perfect...

Thanks hoog.

I know I probably jumped the gun with my post and for that I apologize. Sounds like QC is not the issue and I just got a bum unit. MV has always treated me well and I'm 100% confident that I'll get taken care of.

As a follow up I encountered something strange when trying to troubleshoot.

The bottom spring is cockeyed and bent in an odd shape. If I don't screw the top cap all the way on it will fire on all of the "MadVapes 510 Dual Coil Stainless" cartomizers (MadVapes #3152) that I've tried as well as an LR 306 (MadVapes #2890), SR 306 (MadVapes #2891), and a few 510 atomizers (not from MV). The vapor production is very good at 3.7v with a brand new 18350 (MadVapes #3116).

When I try a "Dual Coil Stainless Mega Cartomizer" (MadVapes #3125) I will sometimes get very weak vapor.

So, I'm not sure if it's the switch or perhaps the bottom spring, or a combination of both.

You kidding, I'd be ...... getting a mod that didn't work and a well deserved post!

If I were to make a best guess, seems that something is getting compressed in the top cap and maybe shorting.. The bottom spring pops right out if you want to fiddle with it but the goal with them when they go in is that the center ring is positioned inside a typical battery ground area. Once it gets screwed together it all straightens itself out..

One other thing we see a bit is that on the circuit boards in the top cap, the solder points for the switch should be flush and sometimes when screwed down, if they are too long and depending on the battery, they'll hit the top of the battery kinda causing a feedback loop. Shouldn't have happened either way but something to look at while you're fiddling.. A quick test and this is not a fix, just a test, is to put a piece of tape over the switch solder points and see if it has any effect on being able to screw it all the way together..

The xxl carto could be a bad one or maybe not wet enough.. They take a ton of juice, close to 100 drops, but at the same resistance as the others that's the only 2 things I can think of with it..

I ordered a rs cap using my credit points. I ordered the maxi tube at the time too. When it showed up the cap was to short. It worked it just had about an 1/8 in gap between the cap and the tube. Because it was a credit point order and the fact that I would of had to go back to vaping a standard 510 for about two (takes about a week to get orders to Alaska) they sent me the replacement cap first and included a shipping label with prepaid shipping for me to return the bad one. Total days not vaping a 6v=0. Yes their customer service is amazing.
