I recently purchased an aerotank and have been loving the adjustable airflow as well as the size and look of it. The only problem I have is that the coils only last around 2 days. I have tried the stock ones as well as replacement ones and have only been vaping 2.0ohm coils at 4v with 50/50 juice, one of them even disintegrated and blackened a whole tank of liquid.

Now keeping in mind I need to keep costs at a minimum and can't be bothered with rebuilding coils I'm thinking the solution might just be to pick up a protank 2 and use the aerotank base on it. I can get the single coils at $7 for a pack of 5 which would be great. I'm just wanting to know what sort of life I can expect out of the protank 2 single coils and if there will be any great loss in production of vapor. I'm not worried about heat and only vape 6mg juice but the most important thing to me is that I can see big clouds and good flavour.

I've equipped my protank II and two Davides with aero-bases. They do improve the consistency of the vape. I wouldn't vape without them now. As to coil life, I've been rotating the three tanks over the last three months and I haven't changed out a coil. I do clean them. Sometimes only with water in a wet burn and sometimes a full-on dry burn. Before, during my pre-aerobase days, I went through realigning a bad batch of Anyvape coils. The coils inside were twisted or pulled down on one side and all were leakers. Even two of my kangers were leakers. I dry burn tested to make sure the coils fired from the center outward. So these three long lived coils have been tweaked and kept clean. Ohm wise, a 1.8 ohm coil reads 2.0 now and a 2.2 reads 2.4. The other is still 1.9 ohms. I vape at 6.5-7 watts with 80/20 juice on a VTR.

My aero coils only last about 2 to 4 days as well. Also, the quality of Kanger coils has been REAL hit or miss for a few months now. From what I hear it's a pretty widespread problem. I rebuilt my aero dual heads with micro singles and they have been phenomenal. I know you said you don't want to rebuild, but I can buy 30 feet of kanthal and a bag of cotton balls for that same 7 dollars. It also takes about the same amount of time to rebuild one as it does to dry burn and clean one. 30 feet makes a LOT of coils. Lol. Just food for thought.

I did order a PT2 and 10 extra coils for the moment but even if that works out I think I might have to give rebuilding a go after reading so many success stories. I imagine I will need an ohm reader so might wait a few weeks till I can afford a nice frost style MVP 2.0 and get some kanthal and organic cotton balls with it.

How many mL's are you going through in a day? I just got mine yesterday and I think it's been fantastic so far. It's definitely an upgrade over the Mini Protank 2 in terms of taste and vaping capabilities. I was never really able to go over 4 volts on my MVP2 before I would get a nasty overheat burning taste from the coil..with this baby though, I can vape at 4.4 and be fine.

I use protank 2 minis, 2's and aerotanks. I get 4-6 tanks on a single coil on the minis and 2's. My aerotanks are on their third fill and there is no sign the coils are going bad. Most of my juice is 70/30 pg/vg but I do have some 100% vg and 50/50 juices that I have used with similar results. The only juice that has killed a coil in a single tank is my spiced apple cider juice but I'm not sure what in the juice is causing it. The coil doesn't go bad, its the juice gunking things up.

I probably go through around 6-7 mls a day which I know is a lot. Don't get me wrong I love the tank and played around with voltages when I first got it. I found I even could use it at 4.8V but after the first coil went I restricted it to 4V but I'm still burning coils like crazy.

Wow. From what I also know, it's dependent on your juice as well. I had my Mini PT 2 and the coil has lasted me forever almost 3 weeks mind you I vape a light juice.

This is what I do and it really extends the coil life in my Aerotanks. About every third fill, I pop off the stem above the coils. They are all black and gunky. (I use clear juice that is sweet). I do some dry burns blowing off the coils after each. After a few, the coils lose the black color and turn silvery again. Reassemble and fill. Don't forget to let the wick prime before you start vaping.
