First off the AFS is made to run a 901 Atty you know that right, you probably flooded your carto also, Remove your top two Orings from the top cap as well. You will need to play with cartos till you get this perfected, I would suggest running a 901Atty for a while till you get use to the AFS since its your first one. also try drilling a 1.2mm hole in the carto and read more on the perfected carto trick, that might help you out some as well OK

Hi my friend Mick.:)

I think that hole on carto is a little bigger than the apropriate. I also think that you flood the carto. Carto can be flooded easy if you put many drops inside it. Of course maybe the carto was a faulty one.

1) You have to put about 10-12 drops inside carto before using it with AFS.
2) Please vape the carto without AFS to see if it vapes ok

If all the above are ok then try to make a 1,2 mm hole on the carto:)

Bristow, Ok.
I have had some leaking with both the cartos and atties. I think the problem is what you are putting on the AFS because some don't leak at all. I carefully assemble the unit and most of the time it is perfect. Then you change atties or carto and the juice runs out. I think the main leakage issue is how well it screws on the AFS.

I agree...use a 1.2mm or 1/16" hole and keep the hole at least 7-8mm above threads. At 6mm..you may actually be slightly below the o-ring..which could definitely cause the leak.

As far as using the 901 atomizer..i've finally figured that out too. I use a regular SLB 901 atty on 3.7v. I close the CR, fill with juice..seal the top rings. Open CR full open..and vape till it stops gurgling...(about 5mins). It's just a bit flooded at first..but not enough to shut down the atty...so just vape it off. Then when it starts to taste a bit metallic or you stop getting any vapor..close CR completely and then back it off just barely...then draw on the tip without firing atty. You should hear a muffled gurgle. Now open the CR about 1/4-1/2 and you should get a nice full vapor exactly like you'd get with 3-4 fresh drops when dripping. From then on..just wait for the vapor to drop..and then repeat..vaping all day..no sweat! Hope that will help you with the 901's..I'm actually preferring them now vs the cartomizers...but I intend to try the cartos at 6v when my gear gets here.

I've blown two of my most recent modded cartos at 6v today, and this may be the reason why....may have strayed too far from emonty's instructions.

1. Put the hole down lower on carto in an attempt to squeeze every last little bit of juice out of the afs tank.

2. May not have stuffed polyfill down far enough under the drilled hole.

Each time, they vaped fine initially, then tasted harsh/burnt and quit vaping. I'd think this would indicate a carto not feeding problem, but I could taste my cigar juice peeking out from under the 555 juice preloaded in the cartos.

Not really a big deal, it's just that I was wanting to take my ggts/afs with me on my 18 hour drive to and from the land of lincoln this weekend. Not having a vape I can utterly depend on is not an option.

It's not like I can field strip a carto from the AFS while barreling down the interstate at 75 mph. Juice would go everywhere, the kids would be screaming, I'd be cursing....not good.

yeah... I do the 1.2mm-1/16 hole... sucking hard with the CR closed(not pressing on the button) helps fill the carto.. might have to do a bit of back and forth.. open the CR to test if it still seems metalic .. close again and give another suck...

might flood it a bit at first.. but once you calibrate your sucking.. no problems after...

sorry for any redundant comments :D

Clyde..I'm in the same boat as you...I'll be on a very long 10 day trip all across Texas and I'm working hard at the moment to make sure my vape will be good to go for long driving spells and being in public scenarios without my full triage kit. It will be the final test of vaping in general for me and something that has been the hardest to solve so far. I really think the AFS is up to it though.

As far as where to put the hole...by my measurements 7mm is about the lowest to go..the edge of hole is right on the base of the tank. But I've found better results with going up to around 8mm...not as much carto flooding, although I've yet to have it leak out the bottom of the tank as some have reported.

As far as the stuffing..I don't modify the inside of the carto in any way..and when I drill the carto I'm careful not to displace the stuffing at all..just a very short zip with the bit to make the hole.

The only trouble I'm having with the cartos is the same trouble I always have with them..using AFS or not...exactly same issues. They either don't fire and produce vapor correctly or they flood or just taste nasty at times. I've tried the V4L's and the KR premium and regular cartos..not any difference..and you just can't get them to work 100% and you can't tweak them really. They either work or they suck.

That's why I punted and went back to the 901 and figured it out..it's way more consistent and if it gets finicky I can adjust it with just the CR..no need to open the tank.

I will definitely revisit the cartos when my 6v stuff gets here to see if it works any better.

If you use 901 wolf you can keep the draw a little harder by keeping the CR in one position always. That way you will have a burn taste very rare. :)

I'm working really hard to find that spot Imeo...LOL!! But I have it working pretty darn good atm!

I think that every atomizer has its point Wolf. But I think most of them work very good when CR is only 1/4 of a full circle open, maybe a veeery little more closed. Tried it and tell me if its better like this:)

Absolutely...I always vape it with CR open to max of 1/4..mostly about a half to 3/4 turn from closed. The only time I do full open on 901 is if it's a bit flooded when I first refill. Then I switch back to the barely open->1/4 range. I like that big warm hit!

oooooo, now we agree buddy! Then you can try a liiiiiitle more closed from the 1/4 to see the results. But I am sure you have done this too. You vape it so you know better than me:)
