It is something I've been wanting to do for some time now. To experience for myself what other folks say about trying a cigarette after vaping for so long (disgusting, nasty, etc.). I also needed to do it, to give myself some closure as it were and remind myself of what I used to do. It turned out to be very therapeutic and something I may do every few years. I would not recommend it for a new vaper trying to quit, but I would for those who have been vaping awhile.

A friend of mine who smokes and vapes, allowed me to take a few drags from his cigarette. It was apparently a light Marlboro type. I would not say it was "disgusting" but I would describe the odor of the burning cigarette as "noxious" and was something that remained with me even after I stopped puffing on it. The taste was not bad, in fact there was not much flavor/taste at all and it was a "weak hitter" producing little smoke compared to the vapor of even cig-a-likes. My curiosity was satisfied, I will NOT be going back. :vapor:

I am not going to lie, even when I smoked, I hated the taste of cigarettes. But I loved the relaxing sensation(probably what you referred to as therapeutic). I loved cigarettes, like a lot of men love cigars and scotch. I let life spin me in circles sometimes, and a cigarette every couple hours would slow the world down for a bit. I can't explain it, but vaping cannot fully do that for me. That being said, vaping has done a magnificent job of getting me off cigarettes. However, even after a few years, there is no way I am even going to try a cigarette, cause it will have me, so congrats on being able to withstand that.

i'm still waiting for my set up to finish getting here. 13 yrs ago, i went cold turkey for 6 months. missed smoking everyday, but didn't light up. then during my pager duty weekend, things got really tight and I lit the cig. first one tasted nasty and didnt even finish that one. then another one after a nasty call out and another one. by 5th one, i was back to enjoying the smoke. once my set up is done, i'm not buying another pack of smoke... or at least that is the plan.

I'd call it "dancing with the devil." But, I suppose, that's just me.

That's why I haven't had the courage to try a cigarette after 18months. Just afraid it might be too easy to just pick up a cigarette and light it. I too wonder how a cigarette would taste/feel like now. One of these days, I shall try it. Like OP mentioned, as a form of closure.
