I kept promising, year after year, this would be the year I quit. My mother couldnt walk across the room without stopping to catch her breath, and slowly, in a round about way, it killed her. I have tried everything-patches, gum, cassettes with hidden messages, classes- if they made it, I have tried it. No luck, still puffed away, still a pack a day smoker.

I saw something on some news program about an electronic cigarette. So, being the computer nerd I am, started doing research. After 3 weeks of reading about them, I purchased a 510 model and thought I would give it a try...maybe supplement my smoking habit with something cheaper, to stretch my pack of cigs longer to save money (at this point, I had come to the conclusion nothing was gonna help me stop totally)

My last real cig was 3 days after I have received my 510 kit....and I wasnt even trying to quit!! The e-cigs tasted better than the real thing.

That was 3 months ago, and I have never been happier. I dont cough anymore, I can take deep breaths, I have more energy, My health has improved, I can smell things again (although, sometimes this is not a good thing), can taste things again (again, sometimes this isnt a good thing).

I have kinda went overboard on the spending though, trying different ecigs, parts, and juices, trying to find the ones I really like. But I would gladly spend twice what I have, to be able to finally say:

I am an ex-smoker.:)

Congrats!! I layed down my open pack when my ego order arrived, and never picked it back up---except to throw in the trash can!! This was after 35+ years. I have said for years that i would stop smoking 6 hours after my funeral. I had no intention to quit, but i found this forum. With all the discussions of the flavor possibilities, i figured i would try it. There are so many new things to discover with your taste returning. Some things i used to like, taste bad now. Opposite is also true.
I can smell things now too--very noticable yesterday bringing 6 boy scouts home from weekend campout :-(
welcome to the forum, and enjoy the ride!
