Hello all! Let me introduce myself. I started smoking at age 16 and quit smoking 5 years ago. I loved the physical act of smoking, but gave it up to save my health. Lately I have been under a tremendous amount of stress, and this has caused me to start craving smoking again. Not for the nicotine, but for the act itself. Smoking was my way of calming down and relaxing, and without it I have a hard time calming myself. I figured a PV would be a great way to go, to get everything I want/need from smoking, without all the harmful stuff. I plan to go with the 0 nicotine carts/liquid. I'd like to use liquids, since there seems to be a much larger selection as far as flavors than cartridges any company sells.
Now, I've been doing quite a bit of research lately, but I'm stumped as to which PV has what I want/need. I'm specifically looking at the Volcano, the Magma and the Joye 510. The major benefit of the Joye 510 is there is someone close by who sells the kits and the parts. I've heard good things about Joye 510, its affordable and this place sells drip tips for them.
The volcano looks great too, however I've read you really can't drip using them. You can dip apparently, but it looks like a big hassle to take it apart, dip, put it back together, etc all the time. I don't want to do all that when I'm out. I want something simple.
The magma looks awesome, but its more than twice as expensive as the other two. I don't feel I need 25 carts, seeing as my real interest would be dripping. I just don't know that it would be worth paying so much more for this than the Joye 510.

So, with the main goals being affordability, ease of use, and ability to use liquids/dip, can anyone here give me some advice on choosing one of the above? I greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

The 510 is a great product with it's only dowfall being short battery life. The eGo is a larger version of the 510 and it's battery life is much larger. If you don't mind the extra size, the eG0 is probably your best choice. Also as you wish to drip you will need a Manual battery for whatever you decide. The auto batteries have a hole for the air to come through and activate a switch to turn it on. Liquids can and will go out that hole causing problems.

My advice is: Don't Do It. Since you were a smoker 5 years ago, this will probably lead to things no good. Like craving the nicotine again and wanting for something you aren't getting, like you used to 5 years ago.
If you posted just to get the advice on which device and aren't gonna listen to the real advice then just go get the Ego/riva/hello 510 and be done with it. The battery mAh is the important factor here. 900 or better will get you a couple days if you just vape every now and again. If you go to full time, then you will probably get a full days vaping from one battery. Good Luck and welcome to ECF.

Well, I too like the act of smoking though I do still 'need' the nic (18mg). If you want more of the affect (vapor production & throat hit) then the 510 and a 70/30 PG/VG mix juice is probably a good start.

I'd suggest you find/start with an inexpensive model so you can see if it works for you. Vaping is a whole lot different that smoking. It still hits the spot for me but there are a lot of other aspects you don't get with vaping.

If you find the 510 is the thing for you, you can easily begin upgrading to larger PV's with better batts and recharging options. The Janty eGo has done a lot for people in just this situation and they have a full year warranty should anything go wrong.

Welcome to ECF and good luck with your adventure :D

Thank you all. The place that sells the Joye 510 close to me sells them with a manual battery. It's the cheapest option, so I think that may be what I am leaning toward. From what I understand, the parts are compatible with the Volcano anyway, in case I switch later down the line.

I've done a lot of thinking and soul searching about this decision, and I honestly do not think it would make me want to go back to regular cigarettes. It is more of a comfort crutch to me, and due to the enormous amount of stress that I am under currently, I feel *not* getting a PV would put me more at a risk for smoking than not having one. I would not purchase any liquid with nicotine in them.

I'd recommend the Joye eGo, it's a 510 with a better battery and cone to help avoid some of the leakage issues the 510 has. I started using e-cigs cus like you I love the act of smoking. Always have, really did not intend to quit smoking, just happened.

Anyway you can get 0 nic juice from anywhere honestly, I like Johnson Creek's Red Oak line, nice vapor production good taste.

Anyway the only thing really to consider is no one knows the effect of vaping inhaling water vapor probably ok, PG/VG who knows, flavor additive (depends on additive and who knows).

Regardless it is a million times better for you than regular smokes, and honestly I don't see anything wrong with NON-smokers OR former smokers picking up this habit, it's enjoyable. I feel now unlike when I was smoking regular cigs, that I'm more of a conisure of flavors, very very similar to when I was smoking pipes and cigars. It becomes about the flavor and the act :)

Good luck though, from a vendor standpoint, I like cignot.com great customer service and a solid ego product, also I love puresmoker.com again great customer service and a solid product.

You can chance bigboxstore.com (China based company) I've recently been ordering from them, other than the longer then US based company shipping times, the product and guarantees are rock solid, 1 battery died after 2 month (button kept turning on when moved) replaced took awhile but whatever. Ordered 12 attys only one went bad a couple days ago, I haven't sent it back yet they guarantee 6 months on it, i have a feeling it will be fine. Also use paypal to pay I don't trust overseas direct payment, have no basis for that feeling just do.

Anyway if you choose to try e-cigs, realize it is DIFFERENT it's not exactly like smoking but similar enough that it's fun, like I've explained to my friends it's different but not changing brands different. My first reaction when I got my Joy eGo after try others was "Hrm, I can see myself doing this".

Good luck!!!

I also like the activity of smoking, not the nicotine. I could go weeks or months without smoking without any withdrawal. I just missed the ritual of smoking.
I read the forums, watched youtube reviews and price shopped for a few weeks before picking out my PV. I went with the ego and I'm not sorry, at all. It has the a great battery life and produces good vapor and throat hit with the flavored zero nicotine e-juice. If you check out the forums, lots of people started out with a 510 and within a week/month upgrade to the ego just based on battery life. I get a whole day of vaping from one charge. I also drip with it and I haven't ever received my drip tip for it. I pull off the cart, top it off and drip on the atty. It's working great so far.
If you go with the 510, I think that you will be happy but will be charging batteries more often. Whichever way you go, good luck reducing your stress!
