So i just got this thing and im wondering why when i pop on the AGA onto my SVD the ohms read at 1.6 or w/e then it fires, shorts and goes down to reading below 1.2 like 0.8 or something. Is that from me not oxidizing the wick properly or am i missing something else? Any of info you need let me know, im using the 400 SS Mesh that came with it and 32G A-1 Kanthal Wire that i bought with it.

Ill try the pliers trick too and see if that helps me, i was pretty sure it was tight. I thought i read somewhere that if you dont oxidize it good enough the ohms jump all over. I know i can wrap a 1.8 ohm coil easily with what i have because my A7 are both reading either 1.8-1.9 right now with less wraps.

That's true too if you're shorting to the wick. As the different areas oxidize under the wick it jumps to the next nearest short.

You definitely are shorting on the wick if you're popping the coil. Reduce your voltage and fire the device to see if you've got all the coils firing at the same dull red color. If not, either more oxidizing or adjust the hot coils with a needle or toothpick. Bring up the volts slowly and pulse the button to establish some juice gunk build up, too. You'll get it.

Yep thanks alot for the help guys i got this thing going good. Now question, it doesnt seem to put off much vapor at the beginning but after using it for a few hits or so it starts going strong is that normal or no?

if it is not vaping initially, but after a few primer puffs it is good it could be 2 reasons, one is that you may have to many wraps, so it is taking sometime to heat them up, or it could be a wicking issue being that the wick has a center hole and this type of wick relys on gravity, so it takes a few seconds for the juice to be fed to the coils. what gauge wire are you using and how many wraps? also what type of mesh are you using, and how did you roll it? how big of a piece of mesh did you start out with? is it a solid wick, or does it have a channel?

Its 400 mesh with 100% VG juice. Its 32G Kanthal with 4 wraps, running around 1.6-1.8 ohms. The hole seems to be closed off somewhere though so i guess i screwed it up oh well. Im waiting on a 325 mesh order that was supposed to arrive on March 28th and i havent heard from the seller so i guess this goes on the backburner for now until i get some.

This is just a side note, these things really work better with a little washer between the first and second nut. There is no way of saying that with out it just sounding wrong. I just put a washer on there and I am in love again. Just FYI if your new to this like I am. Happy Vaping!

A single small washer between the top and second nut? Does the wire go on top of the washer?

ETA: I've had nothing but problems trying to get my AGA-T+ working. I got my Ac9 going first try and it's vaping like a beast, but can't get the T+ working well to save my life.

Looks to be now im having wicking issues, anyone recommend a way to wrap a mesh wick for a constant (i mean attached to my hand all the time) vaper?

Hey John(?), i'm pretty new to this myself, but these pointers have helped me a lot (some/all of which you might know already):

  • if the ohms spike it means a loose connection (start tightening), and if they fall, it means a short (start poking!)
  • removing the filler hole nail helps wicking (but you have to keep it upright to avoid leaks)
  • tilting your pv 45 degrees or more such that the wick is at the bottom (fully submerged in juice), will also help wicking
  • slightly bending the wick towards the center post has helped me a lot, such that the distance between wick and post is reduced. (though some say this doesn't matter)
  • adding a kink in the joining portion of coil between wick and post has occassionally helped me get rid of the top coil hot spot

all these tips were found here at ecf, which has truly been a guiding light in the dark valley of RBAs!
