Congrats on the 100 days, Mo!

Oh...and I, too am a metal lover. :) My ipod has a wide variety of other music on it as well (basically everything except country in my case)...but my favorite bands and majority of my music falls under the metal category. Most if it though is older.

THANK you, my Ahlusion friends for the congrats. 100, I'll be in the 3 digits for the next 2.5 years. Feels SO good, and thank you for helping make it easier.

HAHA... Hopped in the car tonite with Dad, and I left the radio up high on Sirius Octane. White Zombie's "More Human Than Human" was just spooling up. "Turn that .... off" OK Dad, RIGHT after this song... hehe... Man that song can drive a driver. Hey, I had to listen to Glenn Miller..

All of this Boba tea, A+, and music talk has me smiling!

I haven't had any Boba tea since moving to Georgia, but I think it maybe just due to my ignorance. Let me back up a bit.

Pizza:

This has been a problem. Until recently, I came to the conclusion that there was no pizza in Georgia. I had almost given up, randomly found a place that delivers to where I am. I opened the box, and smiled. The place didn't have a menu online, but the little coupon that I almost threw away confirmed my suspicions without taking a bite. "New Jersey Style Pizza". Score!

Chinese Food:

I'm not talking authentic (which I do love). I'm talking carry-out Americanized Chinese, but good carry-out Americanized Chinese. The kind my tribe is known for consuming and being experts on (especially on Christmas). Finally tried the place right around the corner a few months ago. Utter shock. Next time I went in, I straight up asked my man (he's my man now) where he was from. NYC!

Bagels:

I am giving up this fight. I don't see it happening.

As far as music goes, I would love to be able to make mix tapes for all my Ahlusion buddies! My music taste definitely leans to the obscure, but I love sharing it. :)

Being from NJ and living in AZ now....I can completely relate to this issue. In the 12+ years I have lived here, I have finally resolved the chinese food problem....but Pizza and Bagels are yet to be found. At least not at the level of quality I am looking for. (I still believe its the water they use back east.....call it a myth, but I'm a believer!) :)

Here here! It's too bad we don't have an Ahlusionati subforum -- we could make a jukebox thread.

Amen to that. I would love it if Ahlusion had a subforum. That would be a home away from home.

I totally missed telling you congratulations on a fantastic 100 days Super Mou!!! Proud of you, little buddy. Hope you are enjoying your time with your family. :)

Oh, but the Mexican food! Every time I've been back east, that's what pains me the most.

Mo, if you're up for some good Mexican food in Vegas, check out Lindo Michoacan. It's a little done up and not exactly a hole-in-the-wall, but pretty authentic nonetheless and it's got some nice regional offerings that are hard to find Stateside.

Congratulations Moueix! My iPod has everything on it but C&W, Big Bands, and Jazz. My daughter was appalled that I got into Rap at 52. LOL. Now I've even got my husband listening to Eminem. I tried a few times to get into Jazz and it just didn't "click". But I've always had an interest in it and it would be nice if I was around someone that could help introduce me to it. Although Etta James, "At Last", is one of my favorite songs. It is on my iPod. I've never heard Beyonce's version. The original is too fine.

Wow, you and Daniele and I have VERY similar musical taste. And what's funny about Jazz, is it was a friend who turned me on to Corea back in my mid 20's. It does take a mentor to appreciate, an acquired taste if you will. I haven't ventured too far in pure jazz beyond Corea (which the real purists don't really consider pure), but I do enjoy a lot of what I consider "pop" jazz, from old faves like George Benson and new faves like Diana Krall. Etta is in my "late night, bottle of wine, on the boat under the moon" music collection. Just like fishermen have their favorite lures.. ;) I hearyou on Rap. I thought my kids were going to have a heart attack. My wife is used to my sudden about faces on music, and is mostly on board, although it takes her awhile to catch up. But the kids reaction to Jay Z and Gorillaz and Em, was PRECIOUS.

@Johnny Cash & Johnny Paycheck. I learned to appreciate Hank Sr., Pride and Cline and even Cash, listening to my Dad's music as a kid. Then, like all kids, I turned and rebelled and would have NOTHING to do with C&W. I know I missed some good artists while I was hopping to The Police and bouncing to Punk but I moved on. When I hear those C&W oldies though, it's a combination of quality and memories that appeal. Sirius and radio only play "young country" so, no chance to hear the quality old stuff without having to listen to "Chatahoochee".

My parents moved to Goodyear, AZ (just west of PHX) and there's actually a decent pizza joint right by them. New York Pizza Department in Avondale. Wasn't half bad, IMO

Test driving a T3 tonight, filled with the last of my Boba Honeydew. I gotta say, this juice has grown on me. Or has steeped to perfection, whatever. I always liked the Boba Tea base, but I was iffy about the honeydew component. Two months in, I'm really digging it. Jury's still out on the T3.... it's strange. Not sure what I think about the cool vapor.

Just saw this. Congrats, Moueix!

Axo, let's trade! You send me a mix and I'll send you a dozen New York Bagels! :)

PS - Glad you've found some decent Pizza and Chinese!

It's on! :)

I had a fairly similar experience with country. My immediate family never really listened to it (we were more of an experimental late '60s garage rock household), but where I grew up, it was blaring from every drugstore cowboy-driven pick-up truck that drove by. I rejected it in favor of punk, industrial, heavy metal, and some rap, but at some point I realized that it did strike some twangy chord in me. Not that "Chatahoochee," Oak Ridge Boys, Clint Black stuff either. The only new stuff I like is Hank III, who captures some spirit of his grandaddy and alternates with metal. The funny thing is, I've noticed that some of the country old-timers manage to plumb the depths of human despair a lot better than some of the angrier or edgier music I used to listen to!

The closest I get to country would be Palace Music and all the incarnations (Will Oldham/Palace Brothers/Bonnie Prince Billy), Songs:Ohia, etc. I do have to say that the next time I try my BGB, I am going to put on some Johnny Cash to see if it mans me up a bit to handle it!

You have great taste, Biz (in regard to both Neko and the Boba Honeydew)!

I can't do bottom coils -- cools the vapor way too much for my taste.

Thanks for the tip Tez, I'll try it this week! Don't want dad cooking, and if I have to do another buffet, I'm going to chuck. He's a local so I've been letting him direct. Dad says he knows the neighborhood, not the restaurant but he's willing to try it tomorrow night.

If you'll be passing through, I have to tell you about the absolute finest Thai I've ever had. Little place on Sahara, about 1mile east of the strip, in the same dingy shopping center as the infamous "Green Door". Place is called Lotus of Siam. You don't see it from Sahara, you can only see it from in the parking lot. LOOKS like a hole in the wall from the outside, but inside, it's very nice, but the FOOD man! I highly recommend the Nam Kao Tod appetizer, Larb Salad and the Softshell Crab with Drunken Noodles, or Chilean Sea Bass. It's Thai and Riesling heaven, fab cellar, VERY fair prices. But be afraid of the parking lot. VERY afraid. Rough neighborhood, amazing restaurant.

Roger that Mo, thanks for the tip!!! I'll look for it next time I'm through. Thai's my second favorite... behind Mexican of course!

VERY true...the day I got back from NJ after Thanksgiving I went and got myself some mexican food. LOL! The best is the original Los Dos Molinos...its a drive..tiny little place south of phoenix, you have to wait for a while for a table, so you end up pretty buzzed cuz they serve buckets of coronas and pitchers of margaritas while you wait. Its run by 2 sisters, the menu says not to ask for anything "not spicy" because they simply do not know how to cook that way. So you have to be able to handle some heat to enjoy it....which lucky for me, I love spicy food. Its unreal. They are closed in the summer months, because its literally a tiny little house with a courtyard, and I don't believe they have air conditioning.

That's a little bit of a hike from where I am...but when craving a piece of good east coast pizza....no drive is too far! I might have to check them out!

And Mo...I tried replying to your post, but after 4 attempts with your message in "quotes" vanishing from my reply...I gave up. On the music front though....when nothing else sounds good to me, you will generally find me listening to Tool. (my favorite band of them all) If I'm feeling a little more subdued, Jane's Addition will do it for me. But I've had a major crush on Eminem after his last album especially...he's just incredible. (White Zombie is pretty high on the list...great tune you were driving to earlier!) Tez mentioned industrial...which also takes up a bit of space on my ipod....definitely sounds like a few of us have some very similar tastes, beyond just the Ahlusion juices! A sub-forum would be mighty fun!

Okay I got a hook up for you daniele - just west of 24th street on Baseline there's a Chinese place called Sun Asian that has boba drinks :) You can pick one up the next time you brave the Southside for some Molinos!

Oh man, that Mexican place sounds right up my alley! There were a bunch of good ones in South Tucson too, but sadly and oddly, I find the Mexican food situation in southern California to be fairly dismal.

Tool is one of my all-time favorite bands!!! One of the things I really love about them is that I've been listening to them since they came out and I was back in high school, but I feel like they've grown and matured with me. The funny thing is that I am always extremely disappointed when they come out with a new album, but then it takes me anywhere from a month to a year to understand it as a work of genius. I think Lateralus has got to be one of the best albums ever made of any genre. I was a Jane's fan too, but I haven't done a good job of keeping up with them since Ritual de lo Habitual.
