Hey guys, got my IPV3 today along with a Hobo V2 clone. I'm just wondering how the airflow works on this? I figured out how to seal/partially-seal the top airholes.. But there is also 3 more airholes on the side of the top cap - 2 of which line up right with the coils, and appear to remain open.

First, is there any way to partially seal the 2 main holes that direct air right to the coil? I'd like to try a tighter draw. And I can't seem to figure out how to open or close that 3rd airholes on the side either.
.... all I seem able to do, is spin the top piece to close the TOP airholes. Or take the top piece off completely, which isn't easy to do at ALL (no where to grip!)!!
At 1st I tried to yank off the top cap, and may have messed up the threads - I didn't realize it screwed on, and now the top cap sits slightly crooked.. Also, the very bottom part of the deck (that is knurled) and peaks out of the top cap, is such a small space it's impossible to grab on too. Making it very difficult to grip, and unscrew the top cap off. This also makes it impossible to drip while the rda is still attached to your mod/device, I have to remove the RDA than unscrew the cap: huge pain.
^^^ And I don't know if this piece is what I'm suppose to use to adjust the side airflow?? I can't grip it, either way..

Not real happy with the way this RDA was engineered. Extremely hard to use.. But it was real easy to build on (despite the tiny crappy screws & Allen key that I already bent), and seems to vape good. I've only had an ehPro Helios clone (that I love) and Nimbus clone before this, and I'd be vaping my Helios right now instead if it would.connect with my IPV.. But yeah the Helios airflow is much simpler (and more restricted).

Can anyone offer some feedback or help me out? Thanks!! :p

Seriously how is anybody suppose to be able to grip that tiny little space at the bottom of the deck, to unscrew the top cap? I have to grip it with my nails, and its still nearly impossible.. I'm really not liking this screw-on cap design.

Can't figure out how to adjust the 3rd airhole on the side of the cap either. Deck space is small.

I don't see myself using this RDA much.
Regretting this buy - why did I listen to you guys!! Hah just kidding, at least it was only $40

I love my authentic Hobo v2. I found it super easy to build on and use.

There are 3 air holes so that one can configure the RDA in either single or dual coil mode.

This atty consists of 4 separate parts. The top cap doesn't really screw onto the base. There is an inner sleeve that does and then the top cap slides over the top of this sleeve. Here's an image of the 4 separate pieces...

The afc in this RDA works in a similar fashion to the TOBH with the afc tabs. One positions the coils so that they are next to the tabs. Then rotate the top cap to open/close air flow. The authentic sleeve was threaded such that when screwed all the way down, the openings are in perfect position to build centered coils and utilize the afc. If your clone's sleeve isn't threaded correctly, this might be an issue.

The knurled part of the deck should not be seen once the top cap has been positioned correctly. The top cap should slide completely over the deck.

The o-rings on my Hobo's sleeve are rather tight on the top cap. Therefore, I just remove the drip tip and drip through there.

This RDA was engineered rather well imo. Sorry bud, but I'm going to say your case appears to be a combination of clone issues and user error.

Damn this might change things up a bit for me than lol! Thanks for all the help bad (in the other threads too). I hope I didn't mess mine up!
:eek:h my:
I was just a little excited getting the new IPV and all, I just tore it apart and threw a build on it. I read the details before buying but I've never used this style of AFC. I'm so used to my old-school Helios clone.
.... Ill try to get the top cap off a little later. And figure out how to use it the right way!

I noticed it was a little tough to screw it onto my new IPV3 - maybe because both are brand new with new threads? I really hope I didn't mess.up the threads on the hobo. Or mess anything else up.
Thanks!

**thanx Jax, not bad lol..
This link shows pictures of the Infinite clone I bought - you can see they only show it in 3 pieces, not 4 like above.
Hobo v2 RDA Clone by Infinite - Eciggity
But a little Update: I did get the top cap off.of the wall/screw-on piece.. Real cool design!! I love how I can take the top cap off to show the coils & wicks, but they are still protected by that wall.

The only thing I seem to have messed up on this RDA was the top o-ring on the wall. It was a little deformed and out of place from trying to rip the top cap off.. But I just took that o-ring off, and now the top cap has the PERFECT fit - now it pulls off the wall-piece with ease, and still makes a perfect seal!
:D
The very top Airflow piece is still very hard to.get a grip on and pull off, but that's not too big of an issue. Ill just put it where I like and leave it. Tomorrow I'll take it apart again, clean it out, and throw a new build on her. Ill try filing down the insulator some, and putting the coils further from it this time.
.... veryy excited to really try this bad boy out now! :p

Still trying to get this thing to work better..

I took out the top o-ring off the wall so I could take the top cap off easier. I think I might've messed up the other o-ring, or need to put the 2nd one back, because now it's not airtight - if I plug all the airholes and try to suck, a little air gets through either the cap or the 3rd airhole on the side.
Maybe I'll try replacing all the o-rings

I had to trash my 1st 26g horizantal build because it was burning the insulator (damn that thing is high).

This time, I moved them closer to the airholes, and tried 10 wraps of 26g on a 5/64in bit; dual microcoils @ 0.5 ohms - I wanted to try a higher resistance, to try to run it on a higher wattage on my new IPV3. I also installed the coils at about a 45degree angle instead of horizantal this time, the bottoms meet the bottom of the airflow.
..... ^ it's working OK, but it's real airy no matter what, and I feel the vapor should be thicker. I think it's the o-rings/air-leak, but I want to try a different build too.

edit: I also forgot to mention - I installed the coils on the wrong side, so I have to slightly unscrew the wall so that the airflow slots are in the right place (in front of the coils). This could be causing the slight leak, and the airy vape

Any suggestions?
