I recently took a trip back home to Southern California from Wichita. I went to the airports in Wichita, Los Angeles, Denver and San Diego. I could vape in all but Denver. I had to go to the smoking lounge, which I thought was pretty detrimental to my quitting smoking achievement (I had only quit smoking for around a week. I almost fainted, I felt so sick).

But I digress.

Have any of you had vaping experiences in airports or airlines? I know that you can't vape on United flights. If you have been able to vape in an airport, has anyone every come up to and inquired? Given you The Death Glare® while vaping? Inquiring minds must know!

Welcome to ECF!!
I'll just say that it must have been pretty devistating to have to vape in the "smoking lounge" at the airport. YUCK. I can remember even as a smoker..........walking out of the cincinnati airport's "smoking lounge" I felt gross.

Just wanted to let you know that there is an entire sub-forum on ECF dedicated to travel/flights/etc. Lots of your travel questions can be answered there. Plus a few frequent contributers are actually TSA agents!

Hi,

I can share my European recent experience. I flew through Italy, Portugal and Switzerland and Croatia. Even though I kind of dreaded the strict measures and whether or not my mods would be confiscated due to ignorance or potential terrorist threat - the journey went smooth. I was carrying two 18650 mods and prefilled clearomisers and regular attys. I vaped through all the airports and even vaped some on connecting flight through Bologna while we sat in the airplane for 2 hours - waiting for some passenger. If I hadn't switched to vaping - it would have been a smokers worst nightmare. :D Even the flight attendant didn't know what the e-cig was, she just kind of shrugged her shoulders to my question if I could "smoke" in the plane. Well, if she didnt care about it - I sure wont. :)

Well my understanding is that smoke detectors aren't set off by these things right. So I'm quite happy to spend an hour to two with a mag and my PV in the toilet and give a new meaning to the mile high club...

Vapor can set off a smoke detector so be careful and never exhale directly at the smoke detector. Usually there is a vacuum at the sink drain and I exhale into the sink on planes.

That's good to know! I'll be laughing at myself next time I enter a toilet thinking that finding suction is my primary objective.

FWIW, I have checked with my airline (Cathay Pacific) for an upcoming trip and they assure me that vaping is allowed in all their lounges everywhere in the world. EXCEPT if another customer in the lounge complains. I was told if someone complains, then the lounge personnel will find me an alternative place to vape, if the airport has no smoking facility.

Very interesting, good info... As a smoker/vaper in the west I can say Denver has a smoking lounge (ie. "bar" which requires the purchase of something to essentially rent your seat while you're in there.) It's a gross place that I couldn't stand as a smoker and don't plan to visit again. Salt Lake City, UT also has smoking rooms in most terminals. They might be even worse than the "bar" in Denver because they're just glass enclosed spaces that seem to encourage the stink-eye from fellow travellers.
Anyone had bad experiences with security checkpoints?

do they let u carry pv's as carryon in airports? cuz i mean thre is liquid inside, and i remember a long time ago they wouldn't alow any liquid of any kind to be carried onto the airplane as carry-on. i love tank systems cuz they last a long time so i have a MAP tank on my silver bullet and soon to get a liquinator cuz my MAP tank leaks horribly.

has anyone had trouble getting these thorugh flights? domestic and international?
