Alchemy ahoy! A 3am diy adventure

Ok, here's the skinny.... finally got my first box of diy goodies in the mail yesterday as I was leaving for work, and nearly pounced on it when I got home. While mixing a few test batches I tried out the hibiscus flavoring, mixed with some others, and felt like it was missing something. Knowing what i wanted, I did some research....to no avail. Bah!

So, naturally, I decided to take matters into my own hands. To my friends, I've become like the community medicine woman because of all the herbs and teas I own and decided to make my own flavoring for the sake of science. Fueled by coffee and driven by sleep deprivation, I made a mix of lemongrass, hibiscus, and rose hips and heated up about 60ml of pg in a mug. I then proceeded to make a very, very strong 'tea' with the pg and let it cool and steep overnight.

I put about 10 drops into the beforementioned eliquid I made, shook it up, put it into my aerotank with a freshly made coil with ekowool....and holy hell. The flavor of the tea balances the other flavors, coming in around the middle through tailend of the overall palette, which is exactly what I was going for. Im letting the bags steep while I'm at work and ill try it again at about 10% on its own.

I guess its appropriate that I was originally going to get little potion vials and name my psuedo eliquid line "Alchemy" XD

Late update because my time got eaten up by work and the ss mesh my local shop gave me to play with:

I let it steep til this morning and took a puff on a 1ohm igo-w with fresh cotton. It wasnt exactly what I was going for, but its actually pretty good. I mixed in a couple drops of maltol and malic, (sweet and sour additive) to balance it out, and put it back for later.

Fun thing to note, though, is that it seems to change colors depending on what I use it in... the extract itself is a deep, dark magenta that looks black at first glance. I decided to whip up another batch, using a vg and distilled water base (90/10 respectively) since I remember that oversteeping the herbs in a drinkable tea kills the flavor. once I made the base and added the extract, it turned a clear indigo color. I cant wait to see how it looks as it steeps :D
