I originally wanted to offer my incredible patrons something for their support, as I don’t have the classic rewards that are part of what many Patreon creators offer, so charger testing was going to be just for them. They paid for the chargers and supported me so I could test the chargers full time so this seemed a fair thing to do.
But in doing that I lost sight of something very important. I started testing over four years ago because I wanted to share my results with the community and help them learn about the batteries and devices they use. So I have changed my mind and all charger testing will eventually be made public.
Anyone who became a patron to see the charger test results will have their contribution for the month refunded. Please contact me via PM.
I test chargers in batches of 3-5 models (two of each). After each batch is done I will wait 30 days and then all the test reports on my Patreon page for that batch will be set to public access. My patrons will continue to be able to see each test report as soon as I finish testing each charger. This is a benefit of being a patron of mine. ANY SAFETY ISSUES ENCOUNTERED WILL BE POSTED ABOUT IMMEDIATELY THOUGH.
Let me repeat that: ANY SAFETY ISSUES WILL BE POSTED ABOUT IMMEDIATELY.
I will post on FB, IG, ECR, TasteYourJuice.com, and ECF when a batch goes public and list which chargers were tested along with the link to my Patreon page (where the publicly accessible reports will be).
The first batch goes public on July 9th. It includes...
These are the top six most requested chargers for testing by my patrons. The next four tests will be #6-10 on their list.
My test reports do not include lots of graphs and charts, just measurements and conclusions. I concentrate less on commenting on what mix of features a charger has as that is a very personal choice. I can’t make recommendations because what I must have in a charger will be very different from what you must have. But I can give you info to help you choose the charger that has the best mix of features you want with the smallest number of issues.
I test all the Li-Ion battery features as that is what we use. NiMh/NiCd charging is not tested. You can check here though as he is a fantastic tester and tests both the Li-Ion and NiMh/NiCd features: Round cell charger index
I also check for overall assembly/build quality, durability, obvious internal/external safety issues, internal component max temperatures (critical for reliability), and unit-to-unit consistency. Regarding that last item, it’s really important. If each performs differently than others of the same model then the results of testing one are useless. I haven’t seen others do these type of tests and thought it could be of interest to vapers when deciding on what charger to buy.
No one can tell you if a charger is “safe” though. Something like that requires ongoing audits of the factory, its quality control practices, its supply chain, and ongoing testing of a lot of their chargers. It’s just not possible for us to do. We should just assume that someday one of us might eventually have a charger that will fail. Charging on a non-flammable surface and only when you are around and awake can help to keep something like that from being catastrophic though.
Some of you will want to tell me my testing is “what everyone else does”, that it’s nothing new. Umm...even if that was true, so what? How can having more than one person testing possibly be something negative? You want only one person on Earth testing atomizers? Only one testing mods? I think you’d be surprised at how many people look at different tests/reviews before buying a product. Having more than one person test the same product lets you get a much more complete picture of how that product performs. No single person can cover it all in a way that everyone will agree is the “right” way.
Some of you will be upset you have to wait for charger test results. These are my patron’s chargers and my test results and this is the way it’s being handled...deal with it. If you need the test results now you can become a patron and support my testing efforts.
You can also contact me via PM and I will be happy to work with you to develop a good charger testing program so you can test exactly what you want and release the results when you want. I’m not being sarcastic here, I’m serious, we need more testers! You can also check the link above to see if the chargers you are interested in have already been tested by him.

Please note:
- The next batch of chargers includes the SkyRC MC3000, Nitecore New i2 Intellicharger, Nitecore i8 Intellicharger, and Opus CT-3400.
- I do not know when testing of this batch will be finished.
- I do not know what chargers will be in the batch after that. There are ones I am personally interested in testing but my patrons get to vote for most of them.
- I don’t have any chargers I can recommend now. It’s like asking “what’s the best mod?”. It’s all about your preferences, what features you want and do not want. Check the test reports when they become available. When I’ve tested more chargers though I will undoubtedly have favorites, chargers that have the features and accuracy I need, and I will post about those then.
