So, I no longer want to smoke. I know what harm I was doing to myself and my family by doing so. From all the information that I have been able to glean off the internet, vaping is a much safer alternative that has worked for me. I do want to know what the long lasting effects of vaping will have on me. I don't want the rose colored glasses story that would vindicate my love of vaping. I don't want the doom and gloom story that is ultimately being lobbied through our elected officials by big tobacco. (Face it, big tobacco is losing truckloads of cash, we would be naive not to think they have a hand in all the negative publicity.) Pharmaceutical companies are missing out on that cash too. We can't fool ourselves into thinking that Glaxo Smith Kline is sitting idly by watching us quit tobacco without being beholden to them.
I wish there was a way for us vapers to get a truly no BS study. Perhaps a jointly funded study by us, the vaping community, and the other guys. We end up paying half, they pay half. Find some research firm that has a track record of being unbiased and completely results driven. I am convinced that what I am doing to keep away from tobacco is better for me than the alternative. I don't think that the vaping detractors are nearly as confident in their assertions. With a jointly funded study, I am sure that the results would come out in our favor. Vaping is saving lives. Vaping is increasing the quality of said lives.
I bet if we as a community stood up and suggested such a venture, the FDA, CDC and all the talking heads in Washington would balk at the idea. They want to control the studies that come out. They are desperate to dictate the information that is out there. Had vaping been patented by one of the darlings of big government (aka pharmaceutical companies): 1) we wouldn't be able to afford it, 2) there would be no question that this is a great breakthrough in smoking cessation, 3) I would still be killing myself one cigarette at a time.
So what do I want? I want the pure unadulterated, slap yo mama in the face TRUTH. Do our detractors want that? Yeah, I highly doubt that.
