All my bottom coils leak/flood/gurgle

I have 2 protanks and 2 hypertanks. I have rebuilt the coils, added flavor wicks (one or two), removed flavor wicks, turned up my voltage, chanted, prayed, etc. They all leak and/or pop hot juice on my tongue. Usually I set one down on the table for 10 minutes and 2ml juice puddle appears. I spend more time trying to fix them than vaping them. And they have probably cost me an ounce of wasted juice altogether.

Many people seem to have no issues. What am I missing? I use 100% VG juices if that matters. I added cotton twine wicks on top. In one instance, I packed the whole coil area full of cotton and the draw was super tight yet it still leaked.

I've read posts, read solutions. I feel like I've tried them all. No setup works for more than a few minutes and I'm busting out the napkins and taking it all apart again.

Thanks for any other ideas.

This one? All old news to me. And I posted in that thread as well. :)
I've read a lot of stuff on here about them for hours on end. Still no luck. The one thing I haven't tried as a matter of principle is always keeping the tank full. Seems dumb to have a 5ml tank if I have to refill it constantly.

And apparently top coils are being phased out according to one distributor I contacted. Does that mean I will henceforth be pulling my ejuice through a straw and drinking it?

ive had the same problem with all my bct and yet no solution, except for the fact that it only happens when the liquid gets close to the bottom of the tank, I think this is involving a vaccum occurance. The only thing I have found to help it to make sure that you fill your tank all the way when you have about half full tank. So if you are on your last bit of liquid and it starts leaking then I am sorry it will keep leaking, this happened to me twice this past week when I ran out of liquid.

How about just leaving the coils, wicks, etc. alone! Buy it, take it out of the box, and use it. If it leaks send it back right away. After using it for a few weeks, if you think the tank needs cleaning, take it apart and soak it in everclear, dry it and put it back together (no dry burning). If needed, replace the coil with one from the manufacturer.

That's worked for me. Actually I've never even had to replace a coil. And never messed with the wicks either. It helps to have about 6-8 tanks going all the time. lol.

best regards, larry mac

p.s., I usually use 50/50, but 100% VG may work better in an iclear 30, or iclear 30S. I've never had any of my PT2's actually leak, but I've had them flood when I held my Provari/PT2 in my hand for a few hours driving. The battery got hot, and caused the PT2 to get hot, I guess. That doesn't happen when using the iclear 30. And with 16 wicks you shouldn't need to mess with all that cotton nonsense.

Thanks for the replies. I've tried using it without any modifications as suggested and it still performed poorly. I don't like that I have to keep the tank about a certain level to keep it from draining. That sounds like a design flaw to me. Fortunately I found some top coil glass tanks. I guess I will just sell my bottom coils. Maybe I'll give them a few more tinkerings, but not expecting much. It's a bummer because they do look cool and some are 5ml tanks. But that's just 5ml of lost juice for me.

Sounds like an air leak to me. If it has a plastic tank then check for cracks. I've had this issue from time to time on units that have had hairline cracks around the base. Also check the seals to be sure they aren't worn out or not making a proper seal. On a gravity fed unit like this the only way for liquid to come out the bottom is if liquid is getting into the middle tube and then flooding the atomizer. If liquid is flooding the inner tube then its most likely not properly sealed.

Yes I have one that nobody talks about and knows how much it matters, Temperature change is important and the more empty the tank the more it can leek, it is possible to empty 2/3 of a tank with 1/3 air, this can happen at all temperatures, if say you went from what you say is normal temperature in to a cold one then you would suck back air threw were it would leek then when it gets back to what you say is normal and if it don't then it will certainly do it when a little above normal, this can be something as simple as walking threw a fridge section in a supermarket to plating pocket billiards, with small temperatures it still dose it but suck back the little it let out...

It sounds like you might be drawing waaay too hard on these things, based on your saying you are getting juice spitting you on the tongue, and then once you put it down it leaks out. In phase one you are actually sucking liquid up into the vent tube. In phase two that liquid then drops down the vent tube and runs straight out the bottom.

For some people who like to pull really hard on their devices these things won't work.

You may be onto something here. I think I have been trained to do a fairly stiff pull from being so accustomed to vivi nova and the BC tanks are much more airy. So I tried doing a very light slow pull and it is not flooding but the vapor is super hot and a small hit. It did stop the flooding and leaking but now lacks in the "hit" dept.

I just fixed my leaking and gurgle issue with my Protank 2 by using two grommets at the base of the atty that screws into the base of the PT2.

The green line is where the additional grommet should sit. It's a tighter fit screwing the atty into the base but so far I have no leaking or gurgle. To my surprise it also fixed the airflow issues I had when screwing the PT2 all the way down on my Smok ZMAX. Before this it was impossible to draw air when screwed down completely.

Hope this works for you too.

my PT2 heads usually last a couple months and I chain vape often. When I need to change a coil its always annoying. It seems like it takes a couple days for them to "season". I sling it around to clear the gurgle and it stops after a few days. I still get a little juice on the 510 but the above fix is working now. Thanks Brennen, Andre lives!

My only issue was the occasional "dry hit". What I did was take the cup shaped grommet off of the tube attatched to the head and flip it over, and no more issues for me. I don't have too many issues with draw either out of any of my Protanks with my SVD, and my Provari will be here tomorrow, so I'll see what happens with that one.

Are you sure you didn't buy T3s/MT3s coils and put them in your PT? They aren't the same and can leak if put in a PT or EVOD base.

The coil heads I'm using are the ones that came in the box with the Protanks. Haven't bought new ones. Now I rebuild these coil heads with 28 or 32 gauge wire and cotton wicks. Every time I try to use them without the double grommet it floods on me. I've tried many combos of cotton thickness to see if that was causing the leaking but always seems to leak through the threading that screws the coil head into the base of the PT
