my aspire BDC has been the best vaping yet aside from open coil rebuildable.
100% VG is the worst thing to use in a bottom coil, its just too thick to pull in.

but the aspire which uses the cylindrical encased wick/coil gives me WAY better flavor and way more vapor than any bottom coil protank style wick ever has.

i protank style bottom coils offer so little flavor i was completely floored when i went to the aspire BDC both large and mini tank.
i cant belive i was missing all the flavor i was with the protank style coil/wicks.

top coil like the innokin icear 30 are severaly muted and hard to suck on.
the T2 or halo triton style top coils are pretty good but still lack the flavor of the aspie BDC

the aspire that i use are the ones that are all metal on the outside with a glass tube and a see through slot in the metal so you can see how much juice you have.

they do leak ALL bottom coils leak if the juice is heated enough, though 100% VG is pretty hard to leak out.
but on a daily basis keeping it half full or above will pretty much render leaks a thing of the past but when indoors, and cool you can vape it down to the last 10-15%

BCC's I've tried -

ProTank 2 - Muted flavour, gurgling after 4 days
EVOD (copy) - Muted flavour, gurgling after a week, some leaking from bottom
EVOD (genuine) - OK flavour, still not a lot of taste, gurgles when 1/4 tank eliquid left
Vapeonly BCC - Almost no flavour, harsh burnt taste, leaks onto battery occasionally
Aspire BDC - Muted flavour, hardly any taste at all, no leaks or gurgling though

Top coils I'ved tried -

CE4 - No problems, works but isn't 'amazing'
Vivi Nova - Just works, no leaking, no gurgling, great taste and flavour. Have to tilt and swirl though and drinks juice like no tomorrow

I'm using 100% VG liquid and have tried different liquids and this keeps happening!

Why are BCC's so crap? Or am I just not doing it right? I've tried removing flavour wicks, adding wicks, different heads, cleaning, different eliquid. Only reason I like the idea of them is that I don't have to tilt and swirl constantly like in top coils.

Anyone else had issues with BCC's? Can you recommend one that won't gurgle, leak, and gives decent taste?

Seems like you're getting a lot of gurgling across the board, bro. When you get gurgling empty it out and clean everything WELL. Then try again. You shouldn't be getting so much gurgling. Also, when you're filling with E-Liquid make sure you're not getting any in the air passages and maybe try not filling it so full.

I haven't had any problems with the Protank 3, Innokin Itaste 30, and other popular clearomizers.

The bottom coils I have tried (t3, evod, vapeonly bcc) did not give me any flavor at all with my favorite juices. The only juice I could taste out of them was a banana flavor which is really strong. Never had too many gurgling issues with any of them, though. For great flavor, I tend to use attys and carto tanks. I love the flavor in a vivi nova as well, but I did get a lot of leaking with that sometimes.

Likely your problem is with your juice. 100% VG never worked well in my bottom coils so I get juice with no more than 50% VG. I have read that if you turn the seal over that is on the chimney that will help with the thicker juices. I use all Kanger bottom coils and get great flavor and tons more vapor compared to any top coil I have used. I don't keep the silica wick in the coil very long, I get it out of there and switch to cotton. Coils seem to last at least a month but wicks need to be replaced weekly or more often. I think you need to tinker with a tank to get it working tinker free.

I hate them too.
Tried all these and they don't work for me.
EVOD
EVOD Glass
Protank Mini
Aerotank (with the new coils)
Aspire nautilus
Aspire BDC ce5
Aspire E-Pen

They start out good and I always think “Cool – I found a good one!” – Then they proceed to taste like crap and they require more “priming vapes”
I’ve boiled and burned them – everything I can think of to get them to taste OK – I just don’t like them.

Now – These work great every time. Yes I have to tilt them and I get a mouth full sometimes but they work and the vapor tastes great, they are easy to clean and burn and they last a good amount of time.

My biggest fear is that with the BDC rage going on that venders will drop the top coil stuff all together. I hope that doesn’t happen.
It's a good thing we have choices. If bottom coils don't work for you - stick with what does work (now - if I could only take my own advice I would be happy)

Top coil i use the Mini Vivi Nova, iClear 16 and iClear 30. Bottom coil i use Kanger's Evod, Mt3S and Protank, Vision's Xjet Spider and Xjet Nova, and Aspire's ET-S. I find they all have quirks and benefits and for me no clear winner or loser.

The best flavor requires experimenting to find the optimal juice/clearo combo. A bit time consuming but I find the taste can vary with the combo.
The least leakage for me is the Mini Vivi Nova, iClear 16 & Evod. (I vape high VG - 70 to 100% - due to PG sensitivity.)
The worst for leakage are the Xjet Nova and the iClear 30. Xjet performs much better when kept at least half full.
The least for burning is Xjet Nova. The worst for burning is the Evod.
Vaping has become as much a hobby though as a nicotine delivery system. I had one brand of cigs at a time for 32 years - in 4 months i have 3 APV's, 19 toppers and over 60 flavors :)

Wow, I have a bunch of PT2's with AFC and love them and they are real easy to rebuild.

Just finished a couple up for the weekend fishing trip and the Strawberry Custard and at 1.4 ohms @ 9 watts and it's great. I really never have a gurgling problem either, great taste and vapor. They're not drippers but I think they are pretty solid tanks.

I saw a headline about a triple bottom coil so the trend is not going away. Also sub ohm kangers.

I have a bunch of Aspires and like them but they need to be fiddled with every day. I didn't like the i30 top dual coil until I went to a 40/60 vg juice. I have to drive over two mountain passes and back at least one day a week and all bottom coils leak from the pressure change. Storing upside down helps but I need to vape and drive. Genesis tanks work and the i30 with higher vg.

I buy the first item bonehead linked, and recoil them with six tight wraps of 32g and 3mm silica (no flavor wick necessary). The coils are third-rate, but do well when I redo them like I like them.

ETA:
I just received my second order of those clearos, and they have improved those coils-- They should work fine out of the box!!!!
