Raw aluminum is a very reactive material and corrodes quite fast, I'm not sure if I'd like to chance vaping with it raw. You should either anodize it or clear cote it. I had a bunch of stuff hard anodized for my subaru and was surprised at how reasonable the prices were.

Aluminum oxidized within a few seconds. It forms a layer of oxide which protects the metal well. BUT: never use an aluminum-lead alloy. Use only AlMgSi0.5 or AlMgSi1. In germany also called "Seawater-Aluminium".
All my mods are only made with ALMgSi0.5.

I use Al MgSi-1. I like aluminium because is "softer" then SS. Thanks.

I use 6061 bar stock(aircraft aluminum usually T6 treated) and have made things like thermos and find that left raw it leeches something into the liquid. I'd use it for the body of a device, but nervous to use it for anything that is inhaled or ingested. I'll have to see if I can find some good bar stock. 6061 has a bit of everything; silicon, iron, copper, manganese, magnesium, chromium , zinc and titanium and it's cheap at a local shop :p

edit. Just found AlMgSi1 also known as 6082 alloy. Just a different mix from the 6061 blend, not too bad of price either, I'll have to try some. Thanks for the tip :)

poland, and the brassy lands of google
WB, this one raidy has said is a 'Volks-atty' and open source, free for all to build as they see fit, for personal use at least. There is another atty that requires manufacturing and is being patented to ensure it is done right and up to spec.. Circa 3 months off and people, out of respect please don't pester raidy for details. Enjoy this and wait patiently.

Raidy--another way to find this thread fast is to subscribe to it (for when the "my posts" button disappears). A little way down from the top of the page, on the right side is a drop-down button called "thread tools." Click that, then subscribe to the thread. Then, below the last comment on each page is a "Quick Navigation" button. Click that and just a few choices down is "subscriptions." Click that and you can find this thread very easily. I hope this helps you stay here! They have been having problems with the "my posts" lately on this site.

Keep up the good work!

I am completely impressed by the mods that Raidy brings to us and his willingness to help us. I have been reading this forum for quite a long time and there are a lot of great thinkers here, but Raidy seems to surpass us all. His concepts are the literal holy grail we have been working towards.

I am looking forward to Raidy introducing us to Grandma and GrandPa. I have already sneaked into the kitchen and taken some of Grandmas mash.

It will be much easier for me personally to learn here than in rauchen.

Thank you Raidy for your time and selflessness in sharing your ingenuity.

If you ever make it to Texas I'll buy you a brew. :)

But if......
You will be warned: Germans can drink a lot of beer
You would be surprised about the beer in Texas; here in Houston we make some fine Ales at a brewery called Saint Arnold.

Raidys tip #1:

How to cut a aluminium ore stainless steel tube

I don't know the english name, but with this tools you can do a perfect job:
sc00wvm1q293u.jpg

Aluminium: You need 10 times do roll. Adjust the tools after every 2-4 turns (you feel it). Use oil!
Stainless Steell: You need 20-40 times, same procedure! You need cut rolls for s.s.

Keep time, make no stress and you get a better cut.

It also works with copper and platistic.
