Dual coils are not ideal to learn with imo.

When you have the wick removed pulse the mod and observe how the coils are heating.
They should heat from the center out and evenly for both coils.

I agree with eddiea it appears that there is not quite enough cotton.
However if the coils are not right no amount of wicking will fix it.

Make sure you've dry fired the coils prior to wicking, to check that they both heat up evenly, the glow should start from the center and spread toward the legs. The dry hits could be because of one coil racing ahead of the other.

Also, some builds need time to kinda 'settle' - they'll spit a fair bit to begin with, then when everything sets into place it becomes much smoother. I find this more with thicker gauges. Best way to deal with it is start at a low wattage and creep it up - back it off when it starts to spit, then up it again later.

If all else fails, try a spaced coil rather than compressed. I swear by them. The wrapping method where you wrap two strands like you're building a parallel, then unthread one strand from the other, produces nice even spaces.

@itskohler @eddiea @Train2

Here's what I've done:
1) Took the RDA completely apart, gave it a nice Vodka bath, rinsed with water and dried.

2) Pulsed the atty on my HexOhm 2.1 to check for hot spots. Strummed the coils so they heat more evenly, bumped them up and out a bit to leave more space for the tails of the wick.

3) Completely destroyed one pad of Japanese cotton by trying to thread it through the coil with the tougher outer layer removed. Cut the pieces into different sizes and no matter what it just shredded.

4) Decided to leave the thicker outer layer on the next pad. Tried to use too much and broke the piece off in the coil.

5) Tried again, this strip cut a little skinnier. Success!

I've only taken two hits off of it but so far no funky cotton taste. Can we just officially name it the Bunny .... taste? Seems appropriate. I'm wary to raise the wattage above 10 at the moment.

Step 2 should have been "take a shot of vodka". Are you cutting the cotton with the grain of the fibers? Usually long-ways.

I cut against the grain because that's what Youtube told me to do...Am I still doing it wrong?
