i think it would be nice to have a seperate place to talk about all the atomizers that are about to be built.


i have been rebuilding novas for about a month now. i am by no mean an expert in this area and i hope we can help each other out .

Great thread idea! I've never rebuilt anything vaping related yet and am real interested learning about it from/with the crew around here rather than reading through the endless pages in other areas.

Well, out of the box I have to say that this RA is working really well. Great taste, plenty of vapor and a nice draw. The nice thing is, I know it can and will be even better! Don't know if it's my DMM or what, but I measured the ohms, post to post, and it displays 2.5. Well I tighten it to my LT, only turn it to 3.7v and it's glowing nice and bright. Cap her up, toss in my liquid and everything is golden..even at 3.7v? This can't be right.. I may have held the lead on something I didn't want to, but once I got it up to 5v.. it no longer worked. Everything looked fine and nothing seemed to be touching. Screwed it back on and left it at 4v and it's puffing along quite well again.. I guess I'm just confused as to why I'm vaping it on 4v and it feels like I'm going at a 2 ohm carto at 5.5v, give or take..

I don't know why it wouldn't either.. But after doing some slight fiddling with it (in all honesty, probably didn't ACTUALLY do anything) it was working at 5.5.. So whatever I "didn't" do to it, it worked.

But at any rate, it seemed to hit harder than it should have. It was only at 4.4 when you tried it earlier.. IMO that did NOT feel like 7.5 watts.. Could have just been me though.

As far as trying it at 6v.. I would advise to start off with a higher ohm.. or not using fresh off the charger, bats. I did that with fresh AW bats and it was not the most pleasant experience. Pretty sure it wouldn't be an issue with SS, or cotton/bamboo yarn, etc. But I don't think silica really keeps up with higher voltages.

I just got home. The bamboo I have been using is Aunt Lydias crochet thread. I went to Michaels today and could not find any bamboo. I did buy some non waxed candle wicks I am going to try.

The LT could have safety features that will not fire if it senses something wrong. The ohms will change slightly as the oxidation builds (break in period) Also, there are many other factors that come into play with atomizer design. Number evaluation can only be used with the same type. The real number you would want to use is coil temperature, alas this is not possible to do at this time.

So, if your new toy kicks hard at four volts I would set the pv there and enjoy.

Well, I think there must have been a short.. After moving the coils around a bit, I managed to get it to hold up pretty well. Right now I have it sitting on my Bolt at 6v and it's hitting pretty well!

Yeah, I got size 10. It is thin and allows you to decide how much wick. Do not let it go dry at all.

Cool, definitely saw plenty of that! I would imagine that the bamboo and cotton yarn would probably scorch pretty good should it get dry and be exposed to that much heat..

Was it the nichrome not cooperating with you, or was it just a green horn thing?

Yeah, I had to bump mine up to 6v but made the mistake of tossing some of that vita bella. After I took about 4 or 5 hits from it, I had a buzz, lol. But it does suck up liquid.. which is okay, cause it holds 15 drops or a little more!
