Love the zotz! Nice, touch.

Okay, story to tell. Growing up, my Mom and Dad were small business owners in the two-stoplight-town I am from (Eagle Grove, Iowa). They ran a business called the Can Depot. Basically, we recycled aluminum cans and glass bottles. (Iowa gives you a 5c deposit on cans and 10c deposit on bottles an incentive to return them for recycling) The long and the short, we were recycling before recycling was cool (think, early 80s)

To recapture the money they paid out in deposit money, they sold the coldest beer/pop in town, candy, snacks, chips... and had a game room in the back.

I worked for them counting and sorting cans for quarters to play arcade games in the game room (in the back), and, for pop/candy. Zotz were one of my favorites.

Picture me, covered head to toe in nasty from counting and sorting beer/pop cans, with a pocket full of quarters and a mouthful of Zotz, playing Defender.

There ya go. :)

I have never had one...is it a regional thing?? I'mma try mine now...lol

I love me some grape :D

I was born in 1977, they were hot when I was a kid (Early 80s). I think Zotz got popular globally long before I was a glint in my parents eyes, but I'm not sure.

I think this is one of the most endearing stories I've heard in awhile. Played a fair bit of Defender myself while chomping away at penny candy. Thanks for the feels, Clark. :)

Glad ya dig it. Loves me some 80s arcade games. I played defender for almost 2 hours on a single quarter once. I had to stand on a stool to reach the joystick though. True story.

My weakness was Pac-Man. I had a handheld arcade console I just thought was soooooo cool! And Donkey Kong, i never beat either one but man I loved them. I actually have Pac Man on my PC.

My brother, several of our friends and I worked in a sub shop after school in high school. We had Asteroids, Galaga, and a Star Wars machine. One of my brother's friends know how to jimmy the machines so they would play for free. We would stay after closing for a couple of hours a couple of nights a week playing games. Loved my grape Zotz, btw.

My wife just stole my Zotz I got today. She didn't mention anything about the five new bottles it came with either. She'll also have two more Zotz next week. Let's see if she connects the Zotz.

I haven't had Zotz since I was little(80s as well) I used to get my dad to stop in at this little store on the way to school each week and I'd load up on them and sell them at school lol. Crybabies and Tongue Splashers were my best sellers but couldn't go without the Zotz!

Kung Fu and Wrestlefest were my addictions in the arcade department. I still play both of those today on my wii!

Asteroids was an ATARI thing for me. Same with Pac Man. Now, Galaga - Arcade all the way!

I never thought about the implications - remember, eat the evidence (and hide the wrappers!)

Kung Fu was the first game I got on the Nintendo - besides the Mario/Duck Hunt that came with the NES! ...and, Pro Wrestling!
