Can someone explain the cotton wick. Is it plain cotton wool or what?

Yes, Nickhead, rolled cotton or cotton balls will do, organic or not. In the US of A they mostly use "sterile" cotton, which I have not been able to find here. I have tried cotton wicks, but do not like the taste, prefer silica. Here is a link to a photo tutorial for micro coil with cotton wick: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/413000-rm2-rba-2-0-reomizer-2-rebuild-tutorial.html

I would think that cotton will burn at that temperature. Unlike silica and Fiber Glass. I most certainly would not use fiber glass due to health reasons. Pieces can break off and enter your lungs. They are sharp like tiny spears that get lodged into the lung membrane and stuff.
When working with fiber glass one has to wear a face mask to prevent this.
Now the silica issue. Bad, bad big time. The guys that work in the Gold Mines breath in silica dust and get Silicosis that kills them eventually. The extremely tiny silica dust particles have jagged and sharp points that lodge into the lung sacks and before you know it, you in the land of doo doo.

Nickhead, you asked about cotton wicks. I, to the best of my ability, gave you information and went to the trouble to get you a link to additional information. First off, one would expect at least a thank you. Secondly, that you read the link information, which you clearly have not because then you would have known that wet cotton does not burn. Seems to me you only asked the cotton question to be able to spread alarmist claims about silica. If you went to the trouble of reading the relevant sections on this forum you would at least have posted rational arguments. This is not the first time you have made alarmist claims on the SA forum. The other day you made blanket statements about sub ohm coils. And you have been impolite, to put it mildly, to many in the short time you have been allowed back on this forum. Will my inference be wrong that you are mainly here as a troll?

I apologize Matthee. The thing is that you posted the link yesterday then also complained yesterday that I did not read it. Too quick for me. I only get use of my internet at night mostly and only for 1 hour due to having to do my business books as well and get to bed as I get up at 04.15 in the mornings.
I saw the link but can only read long threads on weekends. Thanks for that. I WILL read it.
Just thought I could bypass the main forum and get answers here from peeps that have read up on that stuff.

As to the extra low ohm coils. I stick to what I stated. If your Micro Processor does not have a Current Limiter or the bat is not a protected bat then you are playing with fire. The reason I say this is that I was a safety officer in the electrical field for 28 years.

No hard feelings Matthee?

howsit Nickhead. where did you get your multimeter from?

Company issue. Fluke MM but quite expensive. All you really need is an analogue meter that is cheap from Cash Connection or the like.
I actually prefer the analogue to the digital as you can adjust the zero to zero when shorting the leads. My digital measures the lead resistance at 0.4 ohms when shorted so I must deduct that from all readings.

Perfectly happy to accept your apology, Nickhead. No hard feelings at all.

Now that that's out the way. I have read that link and it looks like the cotton puffs my wife uses. I have not yet done my own rebuilds and am eager to start. Must first get a local supplier of rebuildable tanks. Anyone know of one? I have a Lavatube and Innokin SVD.

I have not used cotton as wick before, but Matthee, shouldn't sterile dental cotton pieces do the trick? - you know those tube like swabs the dentist shoves in your mouth to stop the bleeding from his latest mistake :)

Wow, Derick that seems like an excellent idea. I have tried all the big pharmacies in Cape Town, none have the "sterile" cotton, which seems to be the preferred option in the USA. Have tried organic, balls, rolls, in various brands, but they all taste horribly industrial. Will visit my dentist and get some to try. Will report back here. Thanks for sharing that idea.

We have 4 options
8x38
10x38
12x38
15x38

Unfortunately we cannot do a mix order, so we have to pick one - was thinking to get the 10x38 - saw in your report the 7mm fitted perfectly for your Reo, but thought if I get a slightly longer one then it should work for more people and people can always cut it a bit shorter if need be

Well, seems to me they are all the same length - 38mm? The other figure must be the diameter? The bigger the better methinks. Easier to work with and less cutting. So my recommendation would be the 15x38. Doubt if anyone would store it in a Reo anyhow. Easier to just roll a few wicks and store that in the Reo.
