Hey all. I've been vaping for over a year now, and dealing with weird sinus issues for the last seven months or so. Now I have a weird irritation inside my nose and a rash, or just extremely dry skin only around my nose and mouth which no lotion has been able to clear up. When i still thought I was just sick I had several doctors visits and medications that didn't work. Every doctor concluded it was allergies. So I got rid of my birds, started taking allergy meds daily and bought an air filter.... Nothing works. I'm going to upload some pictures here because I need some opinions before I waste money on another doctors visit. Could I be having an allergic reaction to the pg? My symptoms cycle but so far I've dealt with: post nasal drip, shortness of breath, irritation, rash, dry skin, and lightheadedness. I currently vape 5 mg nic at a 80/20 ratio and I make it myself. Kangertech subtank nano on an istick battery. I do vape pretty consistently through the day though. Thanks in advance for your input.

That's a tricky one Emarie. It is possible to be allergic to almost anything in life including PG or VG. There are 100% VG mixes out there that you could try to see if it clears up any. I would think you would have seen something earlier than now though if you have been vaping for a year. However each person's body is different and reacts at different times in different ways to different things.

I would also look at anything else that may have changed recently, in your diet or environment. Meanwhile a quick google of 100% VG e liquid will turn up some results you may want to try. I would vape 100% VG for a few weeks to a month and see if it helps. If nothing else you rule out the PG piece.

I am vaping some Yeti Vapes Custard that is pretty yummy which they only offer in 100% VG, I believe (although I wish there were PG in it)

I worked in the medical field for over 35 years (Physician's Assistant). I can say that individuals can develop a new allergy at any point in their life, even if they were previously exposed to that agent many times before.

Typical Pg hypersensitivity/allergy symptoms are burning/tingling of the lips, tongue, mouth, eyelids, as well as swelling and/or blisters of those parts.

I'll also echo what Bassnorma said about trying some 100% Vg eliquids. Dripeez, Virgin Vapors, and VapeRite are three manufacturers which I've used in the past which offer options in the Pg/Vg ratio. (Their flavors are also all natural, all organic flavoring.)

I wonder if anyone has considered Thrush, that may have spread out of your mouth/nose to your face.... It's a fungal infection, candida albicans... because I get spots like those inside my mouth. PG is apparently great as an antibacterial, the only problem is, there needs to be bacteria inside your mouth, to prevent overgrowth of the candida -- so, if the PG is eliminating too many bacteria, the fungus can run amok.

Lol...Bad me. On my tablet now.

The other vets are going to laugh when I say this....but....the other possibility is a bit of dehydration....always drink more water when you vape then you would normally....

There, I said it...Lol

Back to work!

Haha oh I know. I drink water all the time. The only reason I thought it might be connected to all of my sinus issues (which may or may not be vape related) is that it started as a soreness inside my nose and spread to rash and dry skin on my face, but only around my nose and mouth...which is really weird. Haha oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

To me, this is more dry skin than a rash, but something is causing it. My dry skin issues are much worse in winter. However, I've also had skin issues a lot like what I see on you and never really figured out what's caused it. I'm just very sensitive, both allergy and skin wise that sometimes I just can't track it down. I have had some make up cause my skin to look like yours. Mary K make up does all kinds of horrible things to me. So does their face cleaner.

Yea, the lighting was poor so you cant see the red spots. It is more like dry skin, but the fact that it's only around my nose and mouth make me think it's connected to my previous issues. I don't wear any makeup, so I'm not sure what caused it.

Welcome to the forum. I also suffer from excess dryness on my face around my nose and forehead. My Dr. says it is related to seasonal allergies. I use lotion and because I vape I also drink loads of water. In the mornings, my water is filtered through crushed coffee beans, though. Good luck and again, welcome.

This may seem silly but please try just simple Vaseline.
I had extremely dry and irritated skin all around my nose after a nasty cold that lasted a couple weeks. My normal lotion (which is a strong medicated lotion) wouldn't do anything. I read about using Vaseline for chapped skin online, slathered on a thin layer a few times a day, and it was healed completely in 3 days. Please give it a shot. Simple and cheap!

Edited to add: mine started the exact same way as yours. My nose got very sore inside after having a runny nose with this cold, and then the dry soreness spread to the skin all around my nose, in a fairly large area.
