Quick intro. Started vaping with V4L early this year, quit and went back to analogs after a few months because I thought I was allergic to the PG and it seemed the 100% VG wasn't giving me the same satisfaction. I decided to give it another go this past weekend, ordered some new VG cartos with higher nic and figured I'd use the carts I had left (some regular and some lower-nic 100% VG) while I waited. Well, no allergic reaction problems until today. Over the weekend, I vaped some Ry4 and 555 regular, some VG vanilla and 555, and no problems. This morning, I popped in a regular peppermint ice cream (one of my favs) and the symptoms started right away. Could it just be the flavor I'm having an issue with and not the PG? Anyone heard of this and if so, any clues as to what ingredients might be causing it? I'd love to get off analogs 100% again, but the allergic reaction is tougher to deal with than going cold turkey, and I need to avoid what might be causing my discomfort. If I knew what kind of flavor profile to stay away from, that would be a big help. Or could this just be that the PG levels finally built up enough this morning to make a difference? Gonna stop with the peppermint IC right now and see how it goes. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this or heard of something like it.

Vanilla and Nuport both give me tightness in the chest and give me asthma like symptoms. Which is really sad since those were the first two flavors I originally ordered. So I stay away from those flavors (for the most part).

What kind of discomfort are you experiencing?

Was trying to be discreet, but since you asked . . . . ........ with mild stomach cramping. And the first go around, since I didn't know it was associated with vaping, got pretty bad since I didn't stop or slow down the vaping. The day after I quit vaping the first time, it went away completely. I don't get it with 100% VG, but since that flavor was my favorite, it was all I was vaping. I just assumed it was the PG and not the flavor. I have no trouble with VG vanilla, chocolate, or 555, and I think now I'll try and experiment with the other PG flavors I still have around. At this point, I'm hoping it's the flavor and not the PG so I have more options since I'm not into refilling at this point. ;)

V, I feel for you since I've been down that road. I can only suggest continued experimentation, back and forth, keeping as many variables constant as possible. I eventually found last year that I was having trouble with PG, but it took me a while of such back and forth to figure it all out.

I know others who have trouble with very strong flavors regardless of the base mix. That might be an issue for you since VG flavs, which are usually muted, seem to work better for you. If that turns out to be the case, there's a wide world of excellent VG juices out there to try (beyond V4L's), so you'll certainly be able to stay satisfied. Good luck!

Both are associated with getting too much nicotine. Is it possible that since Peppermint is such a good flavor, you're puffing more and more at it without realizing how much nic you are getting out of it?

I don't think I'm puffing on it more than usual, and the symptoms began this morning less than an hour after I started on that flavor. I stopped as I was typing before and am on to VG Wow Chocolate and it seems to have gone away, but who knows. It might be psychosomatic at this point. ;) Thanks for the links and tips. Guess I'll just have to fiddle around and see what works for me. For now, I'm going to stick to 100% VGA and try other regular flavors a little later and see what works and what doesn't. Hopefully the VG satisfies better this time.

Hi vcalvert, and welcome to my world. Yikes! Ohmygoodness.... I had a real tough time for the first few weeks of vaping. I had to do lots of experiments (tried 10/90, 20/80, and then all VG) to learn it was the VG that didn't like me - one bit! (ummmm, your lovely symptoms sound just like mine ... did ya lose 5lbs over night?) Keep "playing"... it may be the flavoring, (I've heard the shelf-life of the dairy flavors is very limited) or it may be the PG/VG ratio.

You'll figure it out! I did, and am happily vaping on all PG juice. (hint, hint... V4L - we need all PG juices!) :)

Hiya Vcalvert! Although I've tried nearly every flavor V4L makes I did have a problem recently. I went to a vaping gathering and purchased a really yummy juice. After about 4 days I had some of the same side effects you described and broke out in a rash ALL OVER. It would have been much funnier if it hadn't been so itchy. At first I thought it was measels or something else, but after a day of not vaping the new juice it cleared up. This weekend I tried some more of it and started itching again so it has to be a flavoring since I've vaped everything from 36 mg nictoine to 11 mg without incident. You may want to try one juice at a time to see which one it is. BTW I had to wean myself off of analogs for about 3 weeks before switching over to vaping full time. It tasted terrible to smoke, but calmed the nasty side effects of quitting.
