allergy diagnosis

Hi. I'm fairly new to vaping but have found that I sometimes experience headaches,drowsiness and dizziness. After reading other threads it could be put down to nicotine overdose/withdrawal, withdrawal from other chems in cigarettes or an intolerance to something in the e liquid.. So I'd like to work out exactly what is causing it.

The first time I experienced the headache was after visiting the Janty store nearby.. I put that down to nicotine overdose as i went a bit crazy trying all the different flavors ... At that stage i had already ordered my e cig kit and was waiting for delivery.. So anyway my e cig kit arrived an I've been puffing away with no reaction at all for 2 weeks. The kit came with pre filled 16mg cartomizers. I had also ordered a 510 kit from TW, some of their liquid(18mg) and some liquid from HG(36mg) all of which arrived 2 weeks after my first kit. I diluted the liquid from TW and HG with VG and distilled water. I'm finding that after switching from my first kit to the 510/DIY liquid combo that I'm having the same reaction that i had at the Janty store. It's hard now for me to put that down to nicotine overdose as I still get it even after diluting the liquids down to 12mg.

Does this sound like I may actually be having a reaction to the VG? why would i have this reaction to other brands but not my original cartomizer kit? I was initially surprised that the liquids i ordered were ALOT sweeter than my cartomizers. Even the 18mg TW liquid before i diluted it was really sweet and gave me a headache. All those liquids were originally PG based but diluted down to be mostly VG. Could there be a chemical in the flavorings that causes headaches?

It doesnt exactly sound like an allergic reaction, and I dont know but wouldnt be surprised if some flavorings could cause headaches, but drowziness/dizziness seems to be a "normal" but not good reaction to pg and maybe vg ....not sure.

Unfortunetely most juices dont come with detailed ingrediants list to name exactly what chemicals are in the juice other than TW. What were you vaping when you had no drowziness/dizziness/headaches? Some ecig supplies come with these warnings, the warning on drowziness should be on your TW supplies but its in reference to the dilutant not nic or cig withdrawl.

I was vaping something called the "elusion". I think it's not a very common one. The cartomizers i bought are all just the regular tobacco flavor. But actually they are almost flavorless compared to the all the other liquids I've tried. Thats why I'm thinking I'm having a reaction to something in the flavorings. Just as I'm typing I'm vaping straight 0nic VG and distilled water mix to see if it's that... So far no headache or dizziness. I think whatever is causing the reaction is an ingredient common to Janty, Totally Wicked and Heave gifts Liquids but absent from my cartomizers. Would be great if the labels were more detailed so I could work out exactly what it is and avoid it in future.

Another possibility I thought of was dehydration.. It has been very hot over the past month. I noticed that my headache became less severe after drinking 2 glasses of water.. But it didn't go away.. and then i fell asleep in the chair. I think it's almost certain that I'm having a reaction to something in the liquid. I feel the headache coming on within 5mins of vaping.

I have had the head thing in the past and I assumed it was the nic level satrted at 18mg so I decided to switch too a higher nic level the headache are now almost none existant so now Im at 24-26mg

Headache, drowsiness and dizziness could all be withdrawal symptoms. Any reason you dropped from 18 to 12, instead of a more gradual drop?

For me It's not that the nicotine is too low.. Cuz then I should get a cracking headache from the plain VG I'm smoking at the moment Actually I know between 12mg and 16mg is good for me as I can vape alot at 16mg with the cartomizers but i can feel a bit sick if I have too much. No headache tho. With the other liquids I've bought if i dilute down to 12mg I get the headache but also feel like i haven't got enough nicotine.. So I have the desire to vape more but can't because the headache gets too strong. If lack of nicotine was causing the headache then in theory i could just vape more often to correct the problem but the opposite is true.

They could be withdrawal symptoms but to me they feel like the kind of symptoms you'd get if you smoked plastic. You'd expect withdrawal symptoms to creep up gradually but I only get headaches directly after vaping. Also I dropped from 16mg to 12mg. I tried my TW hilton as soon as it arrived undiluted at 18mg but only used my drip tip and vaped a few drops so I've never been consistently vaping at 18mg. Could my liquids have become cooked in the heat from the delivery process? I'd imaging my liquids have been through plane cargo bays and trucks etc where the temp may exceed 40 degrees C.

Certainly possible.. It'd be great to know whats in my cartomizers to know if they are PG or VG based. I guess I'm going on the assumption that most e liquids are usually PG based. Also my DIY liquids are probably half PG half VG cuz i dilute them down. Take my 36mg from heaven gifts. It's PG based but probably 20%VG.. then i dilute that to 12mg so now theres heaps more VG than PG. My TW juice is probably something like 60:40 PG:VG.. But assuming that my cartomizers are PG based then it was seeming more likely that i had a reaction to the VG. yet here I am smoking pure VG with no headache . It's frustrating not to know. I'm thinking It's the flavorings now. i'm gonna try ordering some unflavored juice both PG and VG and see how I go. Vaping is getting expensive because i have to mail order to find the right juice that doesn't make me pass out. I know there must be a juice out there for me thats ok cuz my cartomizers are perfect.. but taste like crap and are way too expensive.

Edit. My carts are PG based. The website says they have PG, Flavoring and water. I didn't notice any flavoring per say. They taste as if I'm vaping straight moonshine.

many suppliers offer 100% VG juice, i prefer vaporbomb. good prices, and taste great as well. You can also buy blank cartomizers, goodprophets carries them.

Use the stuff that doesn't bother you and then try different things to see what is causing the problems.

If all gives you the headache, etc. and it hangs on if you quit vaping, it would be a VERY good idea to go see a doctor.

Well I've just ordered some unflavored Juice. One bottle of 36mg PG, One bottle of 36mg VG and some 0nic PG(i have bottles of VG already). If nothing there suits me and my headache continues then I'll see a doctor. But I'd say something should suit me because my cartomizers work fine.. So if i can't mix something that doesn't give me a headache out of Straight PG or VG then I'd have to wonder what is really in my carts..

What would be the effect of vaping juice that has gone off from exposure to too much heat or too old? Could that cause the headache?

I recommended you to do this because my son had allergies. Basically the allergist (while doing test) had us eliminate stuff from his diet, and believe me that was a lot and made his life miserable for a while.
Then it was try this and try that to see what he could tolerate.

Ok so i now have a massive collection of juice. My unflavored juice arrived as well as a couple of other flavors i wanted to try. On top of that a Korean friend bought me 6x20ml bottles of Janty juice as a gift!..

So.. Basically the juice from TW and HG still gives me headaches. The HG juice was advertised as being really strong in flavor.. Which at the time sounded good cuz I was intending to dilute it.. The flavor of the TW juice is also really strong. I think I'm having a reaction to the flavorings. I'm now vaping PG menthol from Janty daily with no headache (16mg) and rum from Vaprbomb 16mg 90:10 PG:VG also no headache. I feel a slight headache coming on from my Janty cappuccino.. but nothing compared to the cappuccino from HG.. It's very confusing but basically i think I don't react well to some of the tobacco flavors in particular and something in flavors in general. Which suits me cuz i've decided i don't really like overpowering flavors in my liquid.

This could turn into a long process for you but at least you seem to have a good handle on it.
All I can add is just keep experimenting and while you do, make a list so you won't forget what you can or cannot vape.
