misterD. Just because it may not look as nice as one someone else did, or it didn't work the 1st time you put it together doesn't mean squat. What's important is that you are trying, innovating, giving it a shot. That's what counts.
I have so many unfinished mods because I am bad about taking left turns when something catches my eye. Just like this post. I've already got an idea on this that I want to try. Why? Because of your post. If it works, it's because of you! Of course, this flashlight I've been wanting to finish for a while is going back to the other end of the work bench, but, such is life. It's just a normal flashlight mod, this is a kool idea.:)

BTW, I did a flyer for a club I was spinning in for a "So Happy It's Thursday" party. They didn't let me put that one out.:)

just connect the Vin on center pin of this
401 Battery Connector, Assembled and the ground on the outside (you can also use the batt connector from one of the usb chargers like the one i sacrificed). for the body Tinear uses a 1/2" OD tube so i guess once you ground one side the whole thing is all set. i included a pic of it with an atty on the side for size comparison. hope he doesnt mind.
than on a batt/atty connector you connect Vout on center and ground the outside. im sure you know all of this, but... :)

That's what I was going for, just in a real small box. I was actually using 401 connectors. I hadn't see one of those until you posted. Thanks for the info. Mine will get made.:)

Isn't that the truth. I got a few in process mods that have hit the to do shelf so I can get going on another. I don't see anything wrong with that mod MisterD. :toast:

Impressive. But you do know that all that will not fit in that tube. :D

If you leave off the capacitors or use surface mount I think it'll squeeze in. The board is only 1/2" X 7/8".

misterD. It was the ground. Using a plastic box, I don't have the common ground of the tube. I'm going to pull the 401 stuff & go ahead & do it with 808 connectors. I've got a carto I pulled apart & can use the threads for input side.

Did he/you ever connect that to a regular 'e-cig' battery? If so, did it work?

it did not work with a 14500. it worked well on a 18650. they were both trustfire. ill see if i can PM you the link to Tinear's thread on the "other" forum. he said it worked ok on all his batts. i doubt it'd work on regular penstyles.
had to send you 200 PMs. consider just the 1st and last one. sorry!

If it would work on regular batteries like 510s, 901s, etc. is what I'm looking for. That & all of my daily mods have 808/901 connectors on them.:) I'd appreciate more info on this.

I finally made a box with that board in it, can't put it down. It's a lot different than 2 in series. To me, it's better, smoother. It worked pretty good in the test with the flat battery also.:sneaky:
Another thing, in this box with an 18650 in it, when it gets down to 3.3v vapor drops out almost completely. I'm happy with that.

Lol about the PMs, I got 4.:) Thank You!
