I'll agree with MistressNomad's advice to rinse out the filler inside the inner cart of the cartridges, drip your juice into the inner cart, and replace the filler into the juice. But I would use water to rinse it out and not rubbing alcohol. I know that rubbing alcohol evaporates, but I'll never take a chance on vaping any rubbing alcohol residue. Also, you don't have to dry the polyfill or filler overnight. It will dry in a few seconds with a blow dryer or even a paper towel will dry it enough quickly to be able to reuse right away. Took me about a minute to do all of that when I received my first atomizer and prefilled cartridge.

Also, you can buy Fluval (polyfill) from pet stores in the fish section -- or Marineland Blue Foam Size U works, too.

I did the same when I desided to get into this last week, I bought 3 different kits and a bottom feeding box mod and a bunch of extras parts, and a ton of small ml juices from a bunch of different vendors. all in all I happy with my purchases and I haven't smoked a normal cig since I got the first kit in the mail.

Where did you get those glass syringes in your zombie post?
I believe I got them from Cole-Parmer (link). Although, looking now it appears they no longer carry the 1cc glass syringe.

Better prices than what I paid are available here. And the 1ml syringe is available here.

Meh... you didn't lose your mind.
My very first E-cig was a Chuck by Thagbuilt.com and it served me extremely well
while I was deployed overseas. I tried different juices from all over the place- so much
that I hate to think what I spent. Plus, the extra batteries and atomizers. It was quite
a bit. In the end, I'm spending FAR less than I did as a pack-and-a-half or more smoker.

My health has noticeably improved as well. Stick with it. You'll soon figure out what you
like, and once you do it will be no problem at all to change your smoking habit to a
vaping one.
