I was thinking about s product that would be easier than tea bag paper and non toxic when burnt. One of the reasons tea bags were chosen over paper is that they are in part hemp.
My thought is to braid this material and insert in the cart. It should wick fine and be really easy to use.
I would stay away from anything that is dyed however.
It will be a while before I can give this a shot but here is a link to what I found with a quick google search.
Your thoughts please...

Poly fill is a plastic and this eventually makes contact with the hot dry atty resulting in burning plastic. Tastes like crap and melting on the atty can not be good for it. Keep in mind that this is a Chinese product. While industrious, they dont seem to be all that concerned with using the best available materials to get the job done. Lead paint for example.

I often wonder why people think that there is a better cart material...I am inclined to think that the R&D deprtments of the manufacturers spent alot of time and money to have the product we have today.

Thats my 2mg worth.

X2 on the burnt plastic. That cannot be good for you. I switched during the first week, much better now.
BTW, the hemp wick sounds like a great idea. Thanks, off to the craft store.

that sounds interesting vandal....for me it was because I kept getting the melted plastic taste and I have actually seen bits of polyester stuck to my atomizer heating coil and I sure don't want any chance of vaping plastic!..the tea bag seemed to work reasonably well but it sure isn't perfect ....hemp braid sounds well worth a try......keep us informed if you do try it!

I tried the hemp it's not bad at 1st it was great but then after a few hrs of vaping it gets boged down with fluid - I still have it in and am expermenting but if you do try I make sure that you boil the hemp wick 1st a few times because a lot of the hemp factories put a wax on the hemp to help the fibres stay together

has anyone tried sham-wow as a wicking material?
according to the tv commercial, you should be able to get about a pint of juice in 1 cartridge!
But seriously, has anyone measured the actual temp of a glowing atty?
Will measure the temp of my 510m attys as soon as I get a new battery for my cen-tech IR thermo,

Actually, Hemp=Male Cannabis plant (contains no THC), Marijuana=Female Cannabis plant (contains THC).

Actually, Hemp is a cultivar of cannabis, and is different from cannabis grown for drug purposes. Male cannabis plants do actually contain THC. They contain very little THC, but if they are of the drug producing variety there is enough THC that a small quantity of hash can be made from the leaves.

Both male and female plants are grown for hemp production. However, over the past century hemp has been bred so that it is now it's own variety of plant separate from drug-producing cannabis, so even the flowers of the female hemp plants contain extremely little THC. They have managed to get the THC levels so low that it would take several whole plants to produce enough THC to produce just one intoxicating dose of THC. In other words, you can't really produce any drugs from hemp. Further more, after the fibers have been harvested they are treated to remove all traces of THC.

So to the person whom Spradling was responding to, while hemp and marijuana are of the same species, they are two very different plants (just like a Chihuahua and a St. Bernard are the same species but very different animals), and hemp does not produce any drugs, so it isn't against the rules to discuss the use of hemp.

Just thinking off the top of my head here, but it seems to me like the stuffing material itself must be non-absorbent. The general idea is to have a material that wicks well and supports a capillary transfer method, but must not absorb the liquid. Polyester seems to do that well, and I think the 'grain' of the polyester plays a part as well. If the fibers are running parallel with the direction of wicking, the better it will perform. When the fibers get crushed, then it starts losing its performance. Also, the bridge of the atty should prevent most polyester from contacting the heating coil. If yours is doing that, then stray polyester fibers are probably sticking out of your carts and should be trimmed or use a new cart. FWIW and IMHO

I don't think any absorbent material will work very well, it wants to absorb the juice NOT wick it to the atomizer. Sham Wow is especially nasty, it doesn't even work good for it's intended purpose. I thought about trying Sham Wow, but saw that it doesn't wick well at all, so I use pieces to absorb excess juice and to clean up.

I'll stick to neatly trimmed poly fill and keep it wet, never had any burn doing it this way.

When I restuff I try and get the fibers oriented the same way as much as possible before inserting into the cart (pull gently apart, fold, repeat about 10 times), this seems to make a BIG difference. When my carts go dry they are just about completely empty.

I also found that if I use 10 to 20% less stuffing than original, the carts wick better, but if you go too light it may leak. Some experimentation is needed to get it just right.

I tasted burned poly fill a time or two when I first started vaping, but quickly learned how to prevent it.
