would 'natural brushed wool knitting yarn ready to dye' work for this? I would think it would wick best as the diameter and density/thickness,etc is constant. I could just coil it in as I pack the cart?

Would think that anything manufactured would have some chemical cleaning done to it... but please wait for a response from someone that would know.

WOW! This is a great thread. Thank you so much Melinda. I received my wool today and it completely works. After a couple times of cart filling I noticed that my wool would at times leave a string or two attached to my atty. I then cut up a PTB into 8 squares, lightly rolled the wool into a quadrant and roled the quadrant and folded it into a u shape. Now I don't get anymore wool stuck on the atty and my vaping feels extremely clean. Thanks again!

100% WOOL ROVING - NATURAL- 1 OUNCE-GREAT FOR FELTING!
found this at E...y

I am still new to DIY vaping tried the SE at first (still having nightmares 8-o ) just recieved an SD, and finally was able to throw away analogs 3 days ago :D LOVE the SD:thumbs:, Thursday and after using the carts that came with it for a day tried the ptb mod shredded folded rolled which was ok.... i guess. It was a little annoying though found it difficult to keep the center of roll from sinking which caused the connection btw the bag and the bridge to get messed up.

Finally recieved my order from the ebayer Orioin suggested tried stuffing one before watching the vid Melisa posted and discovered just how easy it is to overfill carts with wool filling . Watched the vid, filled a couple of carts and now I LOVE the results very consistent vapor production and seems to be wicking well takes a TON of e-juice.:D

How much would the mod eclypse posted help or is it necessary?

Thanks for any help :)

Wheres this video? I've tried using the wool again and thought i had broke it up good enough to wick good and its not working good for me. Just seems to hold the juice as its so dense. Maybe i'm using too much or something?

Oh my cart vent mod.. Seems i've noticed something else which dawned on me the other day. Using the mod helps the poly hold its shape. Normally the poly-fil will squish over a short period of time and not make good contact with the bridge anymore. You'll notice when you pull the poly out that its much shorter. Well everytime i pull my poly out (which now is every other day cause i'm lazy) its at full length!

Seems to be changing the pressure in the cart as air is able to flow in and out easier its not putting pressure on the filler. Thats a good thing! :)

eclypse,

the vid is in post number 24 on the 3rd page for me but guess that depends on your settings ;)

Basically what I got out of it was it really doesn't take much material to fill a cart and he folded it into a nice square before inserting into the cart to keep frays to a minimum.

will your hole mod work on 801 carts as well?

Think I might need to try the straw mod the juice doesn't seem to be wicking up the wool correctly .... I was able to put like 17 drops in but don't think I am getting anywhere near enough hits out of that

well wool with the cart mod (used straw off of son's caprisun :)) few little issues, really seems to be a juice hog don't feel like I am smoking 15 drops but pull the cart and its pretty dry. I am getting really good hits for the first 4 or 5 but drops off a good bit after that don't know if I am doing something wrong or not  still better than the PTB mod was working though :)

Anyone have any ideas why production would drop after so few drags? :D

Thanks,

Juice "disappears" more slowly into wool than into polyfill or PTB. Be patient, and add more drops to start with, and give them time to soak in. The juice also sticks in wool better than polyfill or PTB, so you can add a lot and not worry as much about flooding the atty.

It could also be that you're using too much wool. If you start with less, and "fluff it up" more, you might get better wicking action.

Thanks Brachinus I will try and remove some of the wool tonight and see if that helps.

The patience thing that might be a little tougher ;):D

The e-bay site for "Holy Lamb Organics" is now a dead end. I ordered some awhile back and never received them. I finally got a reply through paypal yesterday.

Dear Keith,

I greatly apologize for this mishap. It is our policy to confirm orders within 24 hours and this one slipped through the crack. Ann who received your order in customer service brought it to my attention that we were receiving an overwhelming amount of orders for wool nibs which are to be added to our Woolley "Down" pillows. I guess our company has been listed on a cigarette website for the wool to be used as a filter. Since we provide the wool nibs at cost I had to create a new policy that we can only sell the wool nibs to customers who have our Woolley Down pillow. Due to this new policy and because we are in our busiest season we just discovered that a handful of folks who ordered the wool nibs who we could not find on our list as existing customers- these orders got missed. I do greatly apologize for this. This is not normally what happens. If you do have a Woolley "Down" pillow please provide the name of the company you purchased it from and we would be happy to send out your order tomorrow. If you do not have a Woolley Down pillow then please let us know and you can still order it, but we our new policy states that we charge a $20.00 handling fee for the time it takes. We do this only because we provide the wool nibs as a courtesy to our customers who have the pillow. Please let us know how you would like to proceed and we will take care of it tomorrow!

Unfortunately they do not want to supply the nibs unless we buy their pillows

For anyone looking for wool to use in the carts --

The 'Hobby-Lobby' stores may not be available to everyone - but for those that have access to them... I found a nearly perfect package of 100% wool fiber in one of the aisles very near the "yarns" dept.

I'm sorry I can't identify the product name precisely (label torn off & discarded)... but here's a description for what it's worth...

It's a small clear-cello package of approx. 4.5" x 2.25" that had a fold-over & stapled pegboard-hook type cardboard label. So you'll be looking for this on a pegboard-hook type stock display.
--it weighs what seems only just a few grams - very light.
--they had different colored wools (2 colors to a package)
--the pak I bought had a 'white'(natural)clump and a black clump
I believe the package was something like $1.99 or so .. really cheap.

I can only vaguely recall..but it seems these packages may have been in an area where one might look for some kind of 'felting' supplies...or possibly rug-hooking type stuff. -- (Sorry .. it's been a few weeks back..and I'm getting progressively senile with every new pina-colada these days.)

Anyway... I grabbed just one package and I'm pretty sure there's enough 100% natural wool in it to fill...oh.... perhaps 50+ 801 type carts maybe(?). Plenty to keep one in good filler for quite awhile.

To be sure... I've found the wool filler to be an EXCELLENT alternative to the fiberfill stuff that comes in carts initially. In fact I consider wool to be far superior to the synthetic polymer stuff. -- Anyone who's ever melted even a little of the sythetic filler onto their atomizer knows how that smell & taste pretty much permanently stays in that atomizer till it dies. Yuk!

Hope that helps.;)

cheers,
fisch

I tried to order these nibs from holylamborganics.com and this is the response I received...

Hello,

I apologize that your order was not processed in a timely manner. There was a question with your order, then it got misplaced. This rarely happens, so again I am sorry for the delay in your order.

Here is the question regarding your order. First of all, orders for wool nibs are for our customers who have a Woolley "Down" pillow. If you already have a Woolley "Down" Pillow, please let us know your receipt number for your order or who you bought it from and the approximate date. We provide extra nibs as a service to our customers at cost. Recently we have been listed at at a cigarette site online as a source for wool nibs. Thus, if you do not have our pillow then we have an additional $20.00 handling fee. Please see our website on the pillow page for the written policy.

Additionally, if you did not purchase the First Ounce of Nibs at $6.00, we will need additional payment.

Please let us know if you would like to cancel your order at this point, or if you would like us to assess your order and send you an Additional Payment Request through PayPal.

Again, I am sorry it has taken so long to process your order. Please let us know how you would like to proceed and we will take care of it immediately.

Best Regards,

Willow

$20.00 handling just because we are vapers??? ( I read on here that it used to be $4.50 extra handling but due to him specifically stating that it was because of a "cigarette" site...sounds like that's why he went up) You guys would love my response (I didn't lie, I could have stuck some nibs off in my pillow)...It's for an existing pillow that I did not buy from you but I am not paying $20.00 handling fee and I will not be buying from you in the future due to your judgement of smokers. Please cancel my order.

I just got what sounds like the same thing (1 package with 2 colors, $1.99) from an A.C. Moore arts and crafts store, and the name on the package is "Felt Works." The back says "Dimensions 2007" and has an address in Reading, PA.

So far, it works great.

Haha..ooohhh my goodness!

Prehoda? -- just never mind them folks. I'm afraid they just don't have any clue...ya' know?? -- I'm sorry..but it is kinda' funny (what you posted)

There will ALWAYS be those that quietly live in a small shell with utterly no understanding of the occasional interlopers who pop into their little world for a snippet of value which they themselves possess..yet have virtually no capacity to comprehend why - either from the context nor the relative import of the inquiry.

I will be happy to send you some wool without any charge whatsoever. ~ just PM me (if you can). If not, I will provide an alternate solution.;)

cheers,
fisch
