I've posted the Bounty paper towel mod yesterday and found out that the material may not be safe to use. I've been using this fluval/teabag straw mod for awhile now and it works. I just thought the Bounty mod is easier to make but looks like it may not be the best thing to do. So, I'm going back to my original fluval/teabag mod. Her's how you do it.
Items needed:
Fluval
Lipton pyramid tea bag
Plastic drinking straw( Large Diameter) from fast food restaurants.
Qtip
1 Cut the Lipton tea bag in 4 equal pieces and roll it tight with the Qtip stick with one end of the cotton ball cut off.
2. Hold the qtip with the rolled teabag and place it on a thin layer of fluval the same width of the tea bag. The length of the fluval should be about 1-/2" to 2" pending on the thickness of the fluval. Thin-2", thick-1-1/2". Do not let the teabag roll come apart.
3. Roll the teabag/qtip with the fluval starting at the edge of the fluval. The finished roll should be slightly bigger in diameter of the straw.
4, insert the roll into the drinking straw turning the straw in the same direction of the roll and pull the qtip out after. Cut the rest of the straw off.
Now you'll have the tea bag in the center of the fluval that acts as the straw tube. Cut 1/8" section of the stuffed straw and pull the fluval/teabag roll out and insert it in the cart. Becareful and do not let the roll come apart while pulling it out using a pair of tweezers. The round teabag hole will get compressed and will look flat after you inserted it into the cart. This allows the liquid flow into the fluval quicker and the tea bag hole is narrow enough that it will not leak out. Top it off with a few drops.
If you get a mouth full of juice means your fluval is not thick enough, the teabag hole is not compressed flat enough and the fluval is filling up with too much liquid. Redo with a thicker piece of fluval. You can make a bunch of these stuffed straws and cut 1/8" sections off for plug each time you refill the cart. No more messing with the fluval each time you refill since you've premade the plugs and it's easy to cary around.
Try this and see what you think.
