hello all!

i've done a little digging, and the majority of cleaning threads advise an alcohol (vodka) soak. now, for me this is a problem since i am not legally allowed to purchase yet, nor is there any vodka in my residence.

the tank i'm trying to clean has only been filled once. it is a standard clearomizer - it came with my ego winder kit. my friend suggested i try some juice of his - he didn't have his e cig, but for some reason he had a whole bottle of fluid. so, i filled this brand new tank up, let it soak overnight, and tried it today.

i personally think it tastes bad. if it was unpleasant, i would just vape it all and be thankful for the free tank, but i cannot stand it. what is the best way to clean this clearomizer out so that i can put another juice in it?

thanks very much for any and all help you can give!

Unless it is a very strong flavor, like cinnamon, licorice, or strong mint, .....soap and warm water should do just fine for cleaning out the tank. If it is one of those hard to get out flavors, then rubbing alcohole %90+ will work. Vinegar too can work. Soak for an hour or 2, then flush out with warm water.

The wicks are another thing.

It depends on which clearo you are using. Some wicks are fairly easy to rinse, using the above methods, some not.

Good luck

Mint might leave a taste in your wicks. I've used 90% without issues, but you might have to do it a couple times. With a standard clearo, I rinsed with hot water, shake it up.... several times. Pour in a little alchol, shake it several times, rinse with water again. They can take a bit to dry, but it doesn't have to be completely dry. Flavors might be muted at first, but will come through. Good luck!

:/ thats exactly what i was hoping to avoid, huckleberried. but hey, ill just wash it a lot over these next few days and hopefully itll be fine!

and if four to eight washes isnt excessive enough to clean the flavor out, i will use your trick paul.k! or if i get tired of soaking and shaking lol.

When i clean out my evod´s i find that using water does the job well enough, i have only cleaned a tank out with a solvent once when i tried a horrbly bad tastin liquid, i used pure acetone(dont use the ones that are mixed with oils sold for removal of nailpaint) to get all of it out, let it dry a day or so to make sure all of it evaporated and it worked well.

thanks very much BernieVideo! i'm going to try the warm water and soap - it is unfortunately a mint flavor >.< if this doesn't work, what kind of rubbing alcohol should i use? 70% or 90% isoprobyl or other?

Be careful with that minty stuff, it can migrate into every coil and tank you have!! Click on my name and see my posts on Kringles Curse. I'm still fighting this insideous stuff, I am truly cursed. I've soaked, rinsed, soaked, rinsed with any number of things and still it lingers. It has found it's way into most all of my tanks and batteries. Beware!!

I generally just use a very warm to mildly hot water and just fill up a metal tin/cup and let it soak. Works well for me, I don't vape anything insanely strong like cinnamon so I don't really worry about that. I very lightly run my fingers down (it's gets freaky in my bathroom..i know)the wick and just rub as much of the juice off as I can. I leave the tank to soak for about 10-15min and then do some dry burns and there ya go. Simple, easy and you don't have buy a bottle of booze! XD

I would not recommend rubbing alcohol since it does have a tendency to attack certain finishes on your device.

Regular alcohol should work, but it can get to be a pricey way of cleaning things over time.

Good old baking soda works well for just about anything, especially in a hot ultrasonic bath which I think should be part of every vaper's kit. There are plenty of reasonably priced ones at places like Harbor Freight and Amazon.

Otherwise several hot water/baking soda soak/rinse work but are not as fast. Some people like white vinegar, but I find the taste somewhat hard to get out of wicks without a lot of rinsing.

I keep several devices in rotation (mostly BC's), not to mention all of the dripping RBA's I go through when I am blending DIY juices, and the US clean takes out all of the gunk and taste.

I tried cleaning atomizers that don't use replaceable coils and gave up out of frustration. Kanger tanks have small replaceable coils that you can remove easily and wash under hot water in the sink. Blow them out and put them back on the battery and do a dry burn until the water evaporates and the coil begins to glow. Pulse until no more smoke rises and then put it back into the tank and prime it with juice.

It's just too easy to make me go back to cleaning cartos and clearos without removeable coils. Kanger Protank and TS3 are my choice, FWIW.

I am new to this but so far have found with all of my flavors just cleaning with warm water and letting dry out has worked for me. Only flavor I have noticed a lingering taste with is if I put my coffee juice in tank but that is only for first few draws on the new juice and then the mild coffee flavor goes away for me. But I am also running a single tank atm so liquid isn't sitting in tank for more than a day if even that long.

Sorry, have to strongly disagree; I think this is bad advice. Pretty sure most ISO in the US is denatured and poisonous. And, if not completely dried, that is what you're vaping.

So, on the contrary, if you're cleaning with ISO alcohol one should insure it's completely dry i.e. zero remaining odor. Won't kill you immediately, probably better than some tobacco additives -- but surely not good for you.

I have always cleaned my clearomizer's by disassembling them fully and then popping them in a mug with water out the kettle, i'm sure their might be some who disagree with that, but i'm not too fussy or precious, and the end result after letting all the parts air dry, is a clearomizer that doesn't have any residual taste.

A word of advice from a good solid year of vaping, is that all this equipment is fairly hardy and if you just use common sense and hot water, you don't have a huge risk of permanently damaging anything.

And of course if that doesn't work for you, then you have the infinite resource of the internet :)
