IMHO you're doing awesome Amy, and similar to what I did. Started out allowing myself one cig per 3 hours, stretched it to every 4, 5, and finally 6. Now I'm no longer on any schedule, just trying to hold off as long as I can. Seems to be working well. Good Luck to you!

Best Wishes

Pat yourself on the back for getting as far as you have.
I had the exact same issue with the kr8 and mine came with 18mg as the strongest nic content. I couldn't get away from the cravings and didn't quit. Then I found 'my quitting flavor' of e-liquid from another site. It was a higher content (24mg); I filled a blank cartomizer and vaped it. At first it was just a delicious flavor but I still needed my analog with coffee or that de-stressing bottle of beer.
Then one day I woke up and had my PV in one hand and an analog in the other. I took a sip of coffee and contemplated which I preferred. After that day I never went back. There were times I needed the analog but I used a harsh mint flavor in 24mg and boom the craving was gone. Now I am cutting back on nicotine levels as the 24mg seems too much and I haven't wanted an analog except in very stressful times. I always have the PV handy and it takes away the craving. I may stumble a few more times but so what. A couple of stumbles is nothing as long as you continue to make progress.

Hang in there. Get a little stronger mg juice to try and see if the next time you just have to have a cigarette, the e-cig may take that feeling away.

Uba, now you hit the nail on the head for me. This is my problem. Got my kit last Thurs. and God the waiting for it's first charge was torture LOL. Loved it, only had 2 ciggys that day. The "throat hit" and "chest hit" was great!!! Now I smoked ultra light ciggys, so I ordered lightest mg. nic available. Well less than a week later, tomorrow will be a week, and something is not right. I don't think it's the nic, I really don't. I feel like I'm not getting the "feel" you know that throat/chest hit. What happened? I was getting it, and perfectlay satisfied. Now it's considerably less, and therefore less satifiying. I'm fighting the urge to go out and have a real ciggy, to get it. I ordered a: KR808D1 Mega Battery - Manual - Black from myvaporstore.com. Uba, is that comprable to what you have suggested to the thread starter. Will this give me what I'm missing? If not, what can I do to get that kick of vapor I need. At least I think that's what that throat/chest kick is. Anyone else expierincing the same thing? Nic seems fine, but missing that "feel"?
Try this out. The xtended life batteries for you 808 carto's. Puresmoker.com has them for like 13 bucks. Very noticeable change in the amount of vape imo. Worth a shot. Good luck.

Imo, yes. It's going to help somewhat. Maybe up your nic a bit and try that as well. For some, it matters not that they smoked xtra lights, or were only social smokers. They need to know that they are getting what they need. 24mg of nicotine will do that for you I think. Maybe do that until you are comfortable moving back down. I got my buddy an 808 kit and he liked it. Then I got him the xtended battery, and it was all he used. And to answer your question about whether or not the two xtended batteries are the same, I'd say yes. They are both probably 380 mah compared to 280 mah on the shorty batteries. Every little bit helps imo. If this does not do the trick, you should consider moving to a mod. Or at least check out some youtube vids on them. Good luck to you, and shoot me a pm if you have any other questions. Merry Christmas!

Sometimes, in the morning, I want/crave a HUGE hitting vape. Its not so much about the nicotine leve - 18mg seems to be doing it these days, but clouds of throat searing mentholly vapor. It took a while, and some $$, but I now have a setup that can deliver it, every time.

My danger time is out with friends. They happily watch me vape, then chuckle as they bum me analogs. It sucks that I converted them to American Spirits before I quit them, if only the smoked something revolting!

I guess my points are similar to whats been said above: Spend the money to upgrade... you have to try things to get your vape-stylee dialed in right, you can look at it as a down payment on avoiding the $500,000 it costs to die from lung cancer; don't beat yourself up when you slip, vaping (for me) makes it very easy to move past those slips, and keep on quitting.

One last thing... for me it helps to keep smoking and vaping a little bit separated in my mind. I try not to think of a vape as a direct replacement for a cig I am not smoking at that moment, sure I vape because I am addicted to nicotine, but in my head, I try to realize its not one-for-one. It seems to help.

Good Luck!

One other thing... I don't care if it takes me years to reduce to 0mg nic... and I don't mind bumping up once in a while to vape some 36mg stuff I have stashed away. Sure, I try to keep it down, now that I am at 11 - 18mg most of the time, but if it comes down to it, I'd rather vape the strongest e-liquid I can find for years than smoke.

Uba, thanks so much for that. I'm hoping my new mega battery will arrive today or tomorrow. Also I have a passthrough coming and I think that may help the vapor output, which may help the vapor/throat hit as well. Also, I am checking into mods as well. Have been watching the thread on 'Darwin" on waiting for it's debut and review. Thanks for all your help.

I would strongly recommend a drip tip. I have one on my 510 and it makes all the difference, in terms of vapor, throat hit, flavor, and convenience. It's more convenient, because I don't need to remove anything to refill.

To make this conversion, you can get a 808-510 adapter (usually sold on the net for under $1) and a 510 atomizer (I suggest the joyetech standard resistance ones) and a drip tip (madvapes sells some good ones on the cheap). Then just get your e-liquid (I would suggest puresmoker or johnsoncreek).

This will also give you more options in terms of flavors since you can now buy from pretty much anyone who sells e-liquid.

I've tried using a cartomiser on my 510 and noticed a huge decline in vapor, throat hit, and flavor by comparison. For my money, a drip tip is definitely the way to go.

p.s. To give you an idea of how well this rig works, analogues don't even satisfy me anymore, I'd rather vape. And I'm only using a 510.

Only do this with manual batteries. It can damage an automatic.

It took me almost 3 months to quit analogs altogether after I started vaping. You just have to take it one day at a time and like the others have already said - don't beat yourself up over having a real cig! Count the ones you haven't smoked since you started vaping, not the ones you do smoke!

I started with the expensive mall ecig auto RN4081, then got a 510, then an EGO, then a RIVA, then a KR808, then an Elegant Easy, and I have a PigCig on order! I have spent a lot of money on this new hobby but am satisfied with the hit and vapor I get with the 808. The Elegant and the PigCig are large 808 batteries that will work with my 808 cartomizers.

You say that you don't want to do liquid, but I actually enjoy refilling my cartos every night and it doesn't take long at all! It saves a lot of money too. I use a lot of the Vapor 4 Life cartos and they DO have a good flavor, and that's hard to find with a pre-filled. I use 11-12mg most of the time and hit the 24mg sometimes early in the morning to get me going, but it's too strong for me to use all day. I really try to back down to 6-8mg at night or it's hard for me to sleep.

As far as drinking, I go out with hubby to a little bar once a week and I just pack up my little case with 2 or 3 batts and about 6 cartos and vape away while I'm having my drink. Being around a lot of smoke is actually starting to bother me a little! I never thought I would say that!! LOL

I love being able to taste and smell better and I don't miss that awful cough I used to have!

Sorry to get long-winded here, but just want you to know that I have been there just like you and I know what you are going through - hang in there and I promise it will get better! You just need to find your "sweet spot" and you will!!

This forum is so wonderful with great support, and if you ever need anything don't hesitate to PM me.

Best of luck and Merry Christmas!

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dec 26th 2010 at 5:30 was my last cig woohooo....I got a mod, GLV-2 and it gave me the umph i needed!!! yes, i still want a cig...but its on for the sake of having a cig thats all :) i did add to my collection as well, got a joye ego (heck, the amount i spent on smoking 3 packs a day compared to the money i have spent on mods and other pv's I still have some money to spend for juices....fun and yum :) lol) but my joye ego was the perfect addition to my kr808d-1, and mod....i have this balance going now...not worried bout nic intake (altho i make sure i dont go into nic overdose, done that with regular cigs, wont do it lolol so i am keeping an eye on it) my kr8 gives me that feeling of holding a cig, the mod gives me that push forward when urge is intense (and also when i want to be a fog machine lol) and then the ego, well, having that is just feels comfy to hold it and its a step below the mod in a perfect way for me.....i did go up to 24 mg in nic..that helped greatly as well....lowering nicotine for me at this time i am not concerned with now...just want to get thru this time without the cig, and getting use to it......i get urges, but not the regular kind, its just like the habit part sneaking in...not I HAVE TO HAVE A CIG NOW feeling.......good sign for me!!! it was great to read these forums and this thread...love it here at ECF :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
Amy

An easy and cheap thing to try with KR8 - buy a DSE901 atty and some DSE901 carts then you can try the experience with carts. No adapter needed. One person who just didn't connect with the KR8 loved it with the 901 atty and carts. Optionally you could also buy a 901 drip tip if you want to try dripping with the atty. (I think aluminum or steel drip tips may work best - juice goes down easier). And if you don't have ejuice you'll need some of that too.

You can get those at a good price with cheap shipping at http://www.litecigusa.net/ (not the best place to buy juice but you could get some to start there) I bought my 901 atty, carts and pink aluminum drip tip there. You should find the normal (not LR) 901 atty in the 901 section, and the carts and drip tip in the cartridges section.

And if you end up liking carts, I also recommend blue foam stuffing for the carts (for then the white stuffing gets clumpy and cranky) - you can get precut pieces of 510/90, 10 for under $1, at http://www.strictlyejuice.com/

And if you are looking for some TH this one is real interesting - mystery flavor with a hot TH.
AveJuice's Boba's Bounty (don't know if all their juices have a kick like that)
Also mint, menthol, cinnamon, spices ejuices
and there is something called Death Juice that makes reviewers cough

Agree with the rest, bump up that nicotine a smidge. I started off at 16mg and was feeling poopy, bumped up to 22 and I never looked back. I have been slowly cutting down, and at a smidge over 6 months, I am now down to 15mg (I mix my own, tons easier to control) and feel awesome.

Don't look at vaping as a tool with the goal to quit smoking. Just vape, enjoy it, feel better, and quitting will happen naturally. Why inhale something that tastes like burnt leaves when you can vape apple pie, minty peaches, bananas foster or mangos? LOL! Good luck!
