Altria reports 5.8% cigarette volume decline in US in 4Q13 and 4.1% decline in 2013 (largely due to surging e-cig sales); 8.5% cigar volume increase in 4Q13 (but a 3.2% decline in 2013); 4.3% smokeless tobacco volume decline in 4Q13 (but a 3.2% increase in 2013).
Altria - Investors - Press Release=

This is another key reason why Altria just bought Green Smoke.

Amazingly, the Big Pharma funded ANTZ, abstinence-only ideologues at FDA, CDC and State/Local Health Depts (and their left wing nanny state allies in Congress, States and City Governments) have gone to great lengths to deny that the huge increase in e-cig sales and vaping has caused the sharp decline in cigarette volume/consumption.

Instead, they attribute the entire decline in cigarette smoking to themselves and to their counterproductive "abstinence only" policies and programs, FDA tobacco regulations, FDA approved drugs, flavoring bans, dissolvable bans, e-cig usage bans, etc.
