Am I advanced enough to try an RBA?

Ive been vaping just a couple of months... Been dripping the past few weeks...man what a difference! So the coil finally popped yesterday...I wound one coil that was ugly but worked...but not too good. So I took it off. Wound a nice little coil on a 2mm precision screwdriver and it came out great! I used organic cotton ball for wick. Came out to 2.5ohms... this really aint rocket science.Im sure if I can do it so can you...

You just wrap the coil around the screwdriver and feed the wick thru it? That would be so awesome, I just started yesterday and failed my first try, second one is okay at best (no real notice of change in performance) I just have a hard time holding a pin thru the wick and getting the wraps close enough together, and my wick always wants to unravel (rebuilding ProTank2/EVOD)

I've read that you run a flame over the wire before wraping the coil to help remove the memory in the wire. Hopefully someone can confirm that!

The Smok rda isn't bad. Drill out a new extra air hole(where it should be) and you're good. :)

Thanks. They guy at the store suggested for me to drill it as well. Trouble is.... I have no means of drilling. Might have to find a nice guy or gal with the ability to drill for me.

I've also seen/heard that and did not do that to my attempts so far since lately I haven't needed a lighter for anything :p but I plan to try to build more today and will try burning the coil and make it glow at least before putting it all together, since I've also heard that you can torch the coil and wick to remove crud that might be on them so you don't have to taste it.

Definitely let me know how it goes, if torching the wire helps. I plan on rebuilding my RDA tonight and see if I can make it work. I know you can torch the coil and silica wick. I've heard that you should not torch cotton wicks. :D

YES!! Oxidizing the wire removes some of the "spring" and allows for a more even coil wind.....
A Zippo works...but the small butane "torches" from Lowe's or Home Depot are a bit easier to work with and provide a more "pinpoint" flame....
Just started winding my own a couple of weeks ago.....using 30ga. kanthal on a 1/16" steel rod (built my own jig!)....9-10 turns comes in at ~2.0 ohms on my IGO-L.....
IMHO, dripping brings out the "max" in a juice!! A bit more involved vape.....but, for me, well worth it!!:D
Happy (vaping) Trails!
PS......NEVER DRY-BURN COTTON!!!:(

Thank you for clarifying! I am now even more excited to get my RDA up and running. I'm gonna get an IGO as well now.

My two cents... About 4 months in, I went crazy... Read about rebuildables( didn't know about rdas just the tank ones) read ALL about mesh and porous ceramic... Bought an aga s and tried to do all this fancy stuff my first go around... And never got what I wanted. Quit and went back to "disposable" 25 dollar 357's... Lol.

A month or so later, bought an rad squid off fasttech.. No post holes, an unholy hell to build on... Took me 2 hours to build a micro cool on it... And got... Ok flavor... Guess I'm still not there yet... Refuse to buy more kanthan til my 32 gauge is all used... Lol. Did buy the sterile cotton from cvs though. So I guess I'm still kit there yet. If anyone wants to let me know how an rda can beat out a 357 in flavor I'm all ears, but for now that's what I use as a topper for my (kicked) vmod xl...

Anyway my point is, good luck, and god speed! Let the gaping gods smile on you and let you find your perfect vape to keep you away from the analogs( stickies)
