Am i crazy?

First of all, hi everyone. I've only signed up today, and lurked here since yesterday, having already bookmarked a whole lot of useful info along the way.

I was looking for a picture of what an atomizer looks like (for an unrelated project) and a list of breakdown components, and stumbled onto here.

I'm 20 and i don't smoke

But i have, and am now tempted into this, (even though it's been years), having read a bit here about product quality and the variety or liquids and "sticks" available

I did get sucked into an analog habit at one point in my life, when i was young, very young. I was 13, and i quit right then, after a month and a storm of arguments.

But i've never managed to move on mentally and still crave them once in a while when stressed, like i was then, when i first started

So please tell me how you feel about this, and what would be a better choice for me.

I can make myself forget about this, but for now, i do intend to look into the subject more, and hang around here for a while...

+1 to Swedishfish. I've spent over $300 in under a month. It all makes perfect sense since I'm off analogs of course and will break even at some point. For you going 7 years without and never fully making a habit out of it, it makes no sense to start. Certainly not with nicotine, and if just for the flavor it's really not worth the expense.

I'm with swedishfish, if you don't smoke now, don't take up a potentially bad habit. Granted, it's probably a whole lot safer than tobacco, but there could be some risk involved, we don't know what the long term effects are at this point. It can also get expensive if you let it get out of hand so keep that in mind too. But if you do decide to give it a try, I'd suggest you forego the nicotine and use no nic juice. That may be all it takes to satisfy your urge.

It's expensive, it's a pain in the ...., and worst of all it's never going to be what I want it to be. It won't taste how I want it to, it doesn't perform how I want it to, the battery is big and unwieldy, The juice leaks when you don't want it to or the atomizer runs dry... days go by when I can't get a really satisfying vape.

So why do I bother?

It keeps me from smoking. It's enough. I'd rather switch places with you and just be free instead.

I agree. I believe you'll find most if not all vapers on this forum will agree, too. If you are not already hooked on nicotine, I would really seriously forget about it. I've spent god knows how much trying to find my 'sweet spot'. It ain't cheap. It ain't easy. And nicotine is still bad for you, no matter how you get it.

Forget about this, Run, run and run further, if you don't smoke there is no reason for you to start vaping, all of us are nicotine addicts or use to be as well as ex smokers, Really I can't speak for anyone else but me but if you've never smoked, are only 20 and a young clean machine you don't want to do this, just my 2c but really, think about it, you don't want to start this, your clean, young, and healthy, keep on that path.!!!

Ditto. It's a royal pain that I'd rather not have to deal with. If we make it sound "fun", it's because it *is* fun... relative to our alternative, which is slowly killing ourselves with smoking. Compared to not being addicted to nicotine (or anything, for that matter)... well, not so much fun.

If we can't dissuade you from vaping, please, PLEASE, for God's sake, make sure it's always zero-nicotine juice. You don't want this addiction, believe me.

Vaping should not be for someone that does not smoke. Since you managed to quit a long time ago you need to stay quit and not start vaping. Bad idea. If you want to educate yourself so you can education others that you know that do smoke and might be willing to give it a try in order to quit that's great, but don't start a new habit that "could" be a path to smoking cigarettes again.

Arsenic ... Hi ... Sorry it does not seem that you are finding the answer you are looking for. What you found here are (my opinion) people that wish they never started smoking. People that have seen the ill effects of what a lifetime of smoking will do to you. We all here have tried the prescriptions, the patches, the gum, hypnosis, acupuncture, various other nicotine replacements, a whole slew of homeopathic remedies and many attempts at "cold turkey" (that is my list). Vaping is the only thing that has actually worked and some days it is still an effort. But my goal, and many here, want to be able to quit nicotine all together at some point. If you don't have the habit don't start! To knowingly and willingly start a habit you know is so difficult to get away from (nicotine) is plain silly. Just look back at when smoking was cool and how that turned out for so many.

I know. I'm with Swedishfish too for the most part. :)

My mind is mostly on the sane and logical side here, except that i AM quite succeptible to nicotine, and when i spend too much time working on some electronics projects with a friend of mine (in a hazy, smoke-filled room with a smoldering cig always in the ashtray), it does start me up again, although i do have the willpower to not light up...

So i can't say that i'm perfectly free, even though i've managed to say no to myself every time.

That's why this question is in my mind. The addiction is forever, and i still envy those who have never started, those who complain about smelling somebody else's (fresh) smoke....

So thanks for the replies :)

Arsenic,

"I can make myself forget about this, but for now, i do intend to look into the subject more, and hang around here for a while..."

Hang around and read all you want, then run out and tell everyone that you know that smokes about vaping. THEN forget about it!

If we were all totally happy vaping, we wouldn't be here searching for the ultimate vaping experience. Hunting for a solution to the current problem we are having with our equipment, orders, etc. Looking for a new juice or recipe that might satisfy us. Sharing/supporting with others in our newest addiction. How I wish I was 20 instead of sitting here in front of a pc, vaping, hooked to an oxygen reservoir.

I've read on another forum a teenager asked the same question. The reason was he wants to "blend-in" with others (parties, companies etc) and look "cool" but doesn't want really to smoke.

Now, that would be a little vacuous if not crazy... sounds like a person that doesn't have much of a personality of his own...now if his friends all decided to jump off of a building and commit suicide, i'm sure he'll do it too, but to pretend, with a bungee tied to his feet.

I only asked because it would be a less toxic alternative for me if i did slip up in a time of stress, and couldn't pick myself back up again.

If i never smoked at all, i doubt i would've spent more than a minute here

So i do understand everyone here, and appreciate all the help
