Okay, I often browse the newbie forum to offer advice/help to those in need. I came across a thread where a user was messing with/ broke their ego c4 pen. And was having sparks come out of it due to loose wiring they pulled accidentally making contact. After it heated up and stopped sparking decided to post on what the heck to do with the thing. Many people were suggesting isolating the wires and taping them to avoid contact, or placing it outside to avoid fire/more sparks, or placing it in sand. My argument was that it should be safely placed in a plastic container and submerge the entire device in water rendering it inoperable. Thus no potential for any more harm, worry or concern. Is this idea ludicrous by any means? I personally do not see why anyone would try and repair it, or if they are to trash it, leave it as a risk with a full charge and faulty wiring.

I agree with isolating the wires to reduce contact. Then it should be stored safely, maybe use one of those charging bags meant to contain battery explosion and fires, then get it to the proper waste disposal site. I read a suggestion that tells you to properly identify what it is and leave it for garbage men to dispose of properly. Maybe call your local waste management to find out where the local used battery disposal is.

I would not try to repair it. Unless you have the know how it isn't worth the risk. Even with know how I think it would be easier to dispose of it and get a new one.

if one were to submerge it in water while in a plastic container, what do you propose be done with it at that point?
