I got the mantis. I'm in love with my new mantis. But when I put my current tank on it with the current carto it's too short. SO I bought an adapter 510 to 510 thingy to raise the height on it. It wouldn't let me screw it in all the way or it would just not fire so I had to leave it a little wigglely to get it to work at all. When I used it for about 15 minutes it seemed like it was working fine. Next thing I new it stopped working. We removed the batteries and I had to drop them on the floor to let the cool off before picking them back up. I put a reg carto no tank on it and it works like a dream. And I ordered the matching tank with special cartos from Cigtechs but I really wanna use my new mantis. Should I just wait? And do you think it was the adapter?

I would suspect the carto in the tank, unless it works on another mod.

Hot batteries are a bad thing, check those as well, wouldn't want to see anyone have a mini bomb in their face.

Batteries may get a little warm, but hot to the touch is not good. It could be a short in the carto, or in the adapter itself. Usually there's an insulator between the center post and the threading to keep the two from accidentally touching. That may have fallen out.

Also, many adapters you can adjust the depth of the center pin with a small standard screwdriver. If you're having issues with the adapter contacting, adjusting the adapter may help. On the adapters I've used, they are threaded backwards, so turning counter clockwise extends the center post even though it seems like it should retract it.

But if you're in doubt, toss the carto in that tank and try another. Better safe than sorry.

When I moved the tank to my silver bullet without the adapter it worked perfectly.
