Am I really that hard on atomizers?

I lost my favorite 510 atomizer a few months ago. Since then I have been kill atomizer after atomizer. The vapor production goes down after about 2 weeks to a slight wisp. I use the fluid I always have and still nothing. It has been frustrating me to no end. I am about to give up on the 510 and start looking for a new device. But every time I get a new atomizer I am reminded of how much I love this device and the massive amount of vapor it has the potential of producing. Has anyone else been having this problem? Any suggestions? -Devon

Sorry to hear. Although even if you burned through an atomizer a week, thats still only $32 bucks a month plus a little juice. So you'll still prolly save money over analogs and ALSO keep the health benefits of quitting the analogs. Win Win!

It looks good on paper but this is a new thing for me. It used to take a month or more before an atomizer died on me. So I really do see this as a problem. I go through a ml a day in fluid sometimes more. That adds up to $55 when before I only spent on avarage $35. That dosen't seem like much but as I am broke as of late that is quite a bit.

It looks more like it is the luck of the draw. Some atomizers will last for months or untill lost or they will die in short order.

For a medium to heavy vaper two to three weeks for an atty (before it becomes too wimpy to bother with) sounds about right

First question would be, are using a stock 510 or a HV mod? If you are running stock, then are all the 2-week life attys from the same place? And are they from the place you got your others that lasted longer? Personally I am an 801 guy, but I have noticed that attys from some vendors, on average, last longer than others. For instance, my first 801 atty came from Janty and lasted 2 months before finally dieing. I ordered a 5 pack of 801 attys from TW and they were gone in a total of 2 months, I have since ordered 5 from RMV and I am still on my first one of those 1.5 months later.

I HAD THAT SAME PROBLEM! 2 weeks! DEAD! D.E.D DEAD!

I ran it under some hot water, blew it out, and let it dry over night, dry burned it a little, and tryed it again, NO LUCK, still sucks, and I literally JUST popped it on after letting it sit for another half a day, and for some reason, POOF let the vape begin! Im vapin with that exact atomizer as I type this...

Im guessing if you drip and cart and keep it real wet, and your monster vaping it like I do, it might be gummed up or clogged or something, and its just not getting the juice into the core of the atty.

Try some putting a little vodka in the atty, plug up the hole with your thumb, shake, rinse, repeat 2x, rinse with hot water 1 last time, blow the crap out of it, and let it dry for a day, dry burn for 3sec, drip 2 in the atomizer, burn for 5 sec, flick out the juice, re-drip and fire away...

Not stating that its a cure-all fact statement, just saying it seemd to work for me..

EDIT: After the dry burn, let it cool down before you drip into the atty for the second 5sec burn (and then let cool down again after flicking it out) then re-drip

I will try cleaning and see if that helps. I have noticed a decline in the atomizer life since April or so. I have tried different suppliers including Janty and a multitude of others. Now I have small collection of dead atomizers. I love the vapor production but I may be in the market for a new device. I haven’t looked for a while and I have noticed that there are a few new ones. Any suggestions on what could compare to a fully functioning 510? (And please note that I won’t touch a cartamizer with a ten foot pole.)

How come? They're great for on-the-move vaping, and provide substantial throat hit/flavor. I had my concerns with the issue of filler material burning, but in the time I've used mine, I've yet to see anything of the sort. I do top off brand new cartomizers, and make sure not to overheat them and vape them dry. I still prefer the 510s (yours might be getting flooded btw, I had the same issues with some of mine until I blew them clean out and primed them VERY lightly), but feel cartomizers are definitely a viable alternative.

Yup, every word of your post is my experience w/510 attys, excluding the ones that came with my kit. One of them is still working after 5 mths, not normal but was ' a favorite'. I thought I just had a batch of bad atty's.
2 wks in and the draw was harder and harder, very frustrating.
I have been a staunch cynic of the mind blowing array of cleaning methods some folks go thru and even tried a few, whch of course did nothing. After my last new atty, Dec 1, I gave in and tried something. Can't say it will solve your prob but it did for me.
Soaked in the crest pro health ( I can hear you groan with cynicism),
and removed the wick under the atty coil (again, folks think this is nuts)
and after a day of drying and breaking in, they are working still today, Dec 23. So even though I don't believe in the cleaning, something has worked after throwing away a few attys after a few wks.
And I know an atty lasting a good month is good, one that gets weak after 10 days is not right. I guess I still need to learn about how these work.

You're right. That wick is there to help feed the coil. I suspect those attys won't last very long.

I've got a couple of 510 attys that don't have wicks anymore. They're fine for dripping.. and will probably last a good long time. They just don't (and can't) generate 510 class vapor when working from a cart.

Yup I tried cleaning it and it had very little affect. (I gave a bit more vapor but not much compared to the new one that it thoroughly kicking the old ones .....) Oh well I guess I will keep it as another back up. The only thing I can think of is some kind of design flaw. Perhaps it is bad wick placement? I would say that is just their nature but it is hit and miss on how long they last so it must be some kind of flaw. Either way this is getting frustrating. At this point I wish it was easier to make an atomizer.

Sounds like it might be the liquid you use. I had similar problems with a certain liquid vendor, and after changing liquids lifespan increased drastically. Also Cartomizers are the way to go!

I have tried this with a multitude of fluids from different vendors and always had the same result. I have determined that it truly is random.

All I can guess it that it is a problem at the manufacturers level. If you look at the atomizers in a group you will notice that they all do not look alike. In any mass production setting this is usually considered unacceptable. They are considered flawed by QC (Quality Control) and removed from the distribution chain.


Also one of the main drawbacks of cartomizers is that they are not really meant to be refilled. I am poor and buying a ton of cartomizers would be costly. I would much rather have a properly functioning atomizer any day. (properly functioning is defined as lasting more than 1.5 months)

I feel ya. I bought 4 atomizers and started using them last friday, by today(Wednesday) not even a week yet... I have 1 dead atty, 1 atty thats not working well(It works, but creates about half of the vapor that a normal atty would make, so what I do is take a hit and barely get any vapor then take another hit right after that gets me usual vapor, kinda seems like its having issues heating up) But 2 attys, prolly going to be 3 by friday, already dead! No thats outrageous!
